Columbia High School Reviews

Columbia High School is a very diverse school that brings all groups of people together in a learning environment. If the proper classes are taken, you are able to achieve a very successful education at the school. The AP classes are very rigorous and test students to see where they truly belong. The homework load depends on each class with some teachers assigning weekly assignments and others assigning nightly homework. The sports are highly regarded as the teams have started winning more often. This has led to more school spirit and more pride in ones school. Sadly, the administration has issues when it comes to discipline which causes lots of students to act out. The security is not good either as many students report feeling unsafe in the school. I personally would like to see an increase in the security as safety should be the number one priority in school.
Columbia High School is a place where I can go to learn, but also develop myself as a human being. There are a ton of support groups at the school, and most of the teachers are very nice and will help you with almost anything. The academics are very good, specifically the English, STEM, and Music/Arts programs are very rigorous and outstanding. This school also has many clubs for students to integrate themselves into, and students learn techniques that will adequately prepare them for college or higher education.
Columbia High School is a wild ride. There’s always something going on with the students, whether it is fights or putting an alive lobster in the toilet. The events as CHS can be very strange and random. There is a mix of really great teachers as well as unhelpful ones. I think it would be really helpful if there was some survey or way to tell certain teachers what they do that helps students learn and what they can do to make it a better learning environment. CHS is very diverse. There are a lot of people of different races, there are people part of the LGBTQ+ community, and there are a lot of neurodivergent people as well. Although CHS can be weird sometimes, I wouldn’t have chosen to go anywhere else for highschool.
