Gavin Smith Film Comment Magazine There is a air of intriguing atavism about the textures and contours of Buffalo '66's visual style and tone. Apr 11, 2018 Full Review Richard Schickel TIME Magazine Gallo, who also wrote, directed and scored Buffalo '66 , is a smart young filmmaker, not least in his casting. Aug 30, 2016 Full Review Ella Taylor L.A. Weekly For a study in untrammeled lunacy, the movie is a highly constructed and tightly controlled work. Aug 30, 2016 Full Review Erica Peplin Vague Visages Though bleak and at times brutal, Buffalo ’66 manages to evoke a world of sensitivity that’s, dare I say, rather feminine. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The film communicates a level of anguish that is difficult to bear at times. Feb 16, 2021 Full Review Margaret Pomeranz At the Movies (Australia) Performances are outstanding, particularly those of Gallo and Ricci. It`s so refreshing and invigorating to see a film like this. Jeff P Writer/Director/Lifelong Weirdo Vincent Gallo may have been a one hit wonder, but Buffalo 66 is a hell of a hit. Fantastic film, and the nightclub scene set to the intro of the Yes classic "Heart Of The Sunrise" might be the best 3 minutes of indie cinema ever filmed. I have loved this movie for over 20 years, its simply a wonderfully executed film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Michael V Billy Brown just got out of jail. Now he's going to serve some real time. He's going home. Buffalo '66 is a 1998 American independent film directed by Vincent Gallo 🎭 It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one 😉 I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss 👍🏼👎🏼 This is a little sad and disturbing at times, but also somewhat intriguing… Billy is released after five years in prison. In the next moment, he kidnaps teenage student Layla and visits his parents with her, pretending she is his girlfriend and they will soon marry. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Leaburn O I've heard this film recommended before but surely it should be higher regarded in wider circles. An original edgy rom/com which is both funny and endearing. The performances from Gallo and Ricci are outstanding. I simply wasn't expecting something as original and good as this. Watched on Amazon Prime. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/24 Full Review onio w the end of this movie is what my bestfriend expect's will happen after she starts dating an asshole guy whom supposedly she can 'fix' Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Rich S Gallo's artistic touch comes through while highlighting the director/writer/actor's own shortcomings on film. Ricci steals the show in more ways than one can imagine and also inspired a song by the duo, Wet Leg called "Wet Dream." Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Montgomery M I love this movie. Its so surreal and offbeat with an interesting visual style that I just really love. Its strange humor also really works for me. It is, in my opinion a pretty underrated film.
