Animals and Reptiles Up Close and Personal
This is a great place to bring your kids to teach them about the animal world. They have quite a variety of venomous and nonvenomous snakes along with other reptiles and animals. Your kids will love the interactive demonstrations with various animals and reptiles at the zoo. To take in everything and get involved wit the demonstrations and the petting zoo you will need between 2 and 3 hours. It is well worth your time.

Great experience for the whole family
We had an amazing time! Stayed from 10 until 2:30pm and I had to pull my 8 year old away. She was able to feed Bison, Tortoises, all animals in the petting zoo. We stood about 2 feet from the lions getting fed, and watched several other animals get fed. Several 15 minute talks that not only interested the kids, but adults, as well. Brought out a gator, boa, and other animals to show and let the kids pet. This was, by far, better than the SA zoo because the kids were able to interact with the animals all day.

Bigger than I thought, it was clean, friendly staff. My 3 year old and I really enjoyed all the animals. Definitely wish the wolves had a large pool or something to cool them down in this Texas heat. But all around great day and experience. We will be going back.

    Excellent experience
This place is far more amazing than the outside suggests and I'm only saying this because we bypassed it for four years on I-35 before finally walking in. Whatever you do, don't make our mistake - go visit now. I took my youngest to feed the capybaras as a gift for her 11th birthday. She absolutely loved it! They were adorable and she was able to feed them the lettuce leaves the zoo provided and pet them. They were all ours for 15 minutes. I have to note that this place is only 1 hr from Austin and it has openings for capybara feedings EVERY DAY. Contrast this to the Austin Zoo, where the weekday capybara feedings are sold out till July and if you want it on the weekend, it's going to be in August or September. They have a wide range of other animals, some of which I hadn't seen anywhere else, e.g. cavies. You don't have to spend time looking at the reptiles, if you are not so inclined. There's plenty of other fauna to entertain you. The petting zoo is very large and has miniature goats, zebu, deer, lama, chickens, and more. You can get a cup of feed for $4 and, if you feel like, a cup of insects for the chickens. The camels are also very friendly and fun. Overall, an excellent time even for my tween, who has recently been getting pickier and pickier about where she wants to go and what she wants to do.

So much fun and don't skip the interactions!
We had a great time. We had not been in several years. There have been so many improvements made throughout entire facility. The snake enclosures were totally different. We had interactions with capybaras, lemur, and camels. Can't recommend the interactions enough. The animals were just so much fun to feed etc. The petting zoo area is great with goats, a llama, and a small cow too.

Very happy with the way they continue to upgrade and add to this complex. You see quite a few animals and you see them much closer up than a normal zoo. We especially enjoyed the white lion show and we were lucky because even in the heat they came down and ate and showed off. I hope they continue to add to the natural settings for the animals and even though the price seems a bit high I know it goes towards taking care of these great animals and reptiles!

This was our first time visiting the Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo and our family was pleasantly surprised by the zoo. From the outside, you might not think there is a lot to see inside, but as they say, looks can be deceiving.

For the size of the facility, they have many animals to see. All the animals are in cleans quarters and appear to be well cared for. Unlike some zoos, that keep the animals far away from visitors, you can see these animals from a closer distance, with still maintaining guest safety.

You have the opportunity, should you choose, to interact with many of the animals at the zoo. The staff indicated they are working to expand the facility which should only make it more enjoyable.

Our family will definitely return to the zoo and eagerly wait their expansion!

Our family of 4 went on a busy Friday afternoon of Spring Break 2021. Staff was friendly & did a great job of keeping the entrance line moving as quickly as possible. Lots of snakes, of course, petting zoo (with some frisky goats!), hilarious monkeys putting on a 'hooting' show for us, and we sprung extra $ for a personal encounter w/ a Burmese python. Kids said that was the highlight of their whole spring break! The gal that did it was super friendly & informative. Kids won't ever forget it. I do wish they had more bathrooms with hand-washing stations throughout. It was busy, so lots of people needing to use those facilities. I saw one inside bathroom, the rest were porta-potties outside.

Based on the road sign and exterior, I thought this place was going to have a Tiger King vibe. Instead it was a professionally run zoo and we were shocked by some of the exotic animals that were located at this road side stop in New Braunfels. We got to see hyenas, wolves and mountain lions be fed from up close. Peacocks and roosters run freely.

My fiance and I really enjoyed this visit. They have a nice array of lizards, snakes, alligators, crocs, lions, monkeys, and a petting zoo. The chickens were allowed to be loose on the property and always fun to watch. They also have a nice animal petting area. The staff is very well informed of each animal and reptile. They all work with a specific type of animal group. The animals seem content, healthy, and happy. The facility is clean and have plenty of places to clean your hands. I was very impressed as this experience was up close and personal.

Really surprised by the level of enclosures and species at this zoo! I was worried we would be walking into a Joe-Exotic situation but it is clear that these animals are very well treated and kept. The different habitats were all top notch, complete with waterfalls, shade, sun-bathing rocks, and a fairly good size. Should all zoo enclosures be larger? Yes because they are caged animals and any cage is smaller than the wild. For the purpose of education, they did a great job at this zoo. I highly recommend an animal "encounter" to really personalize the experience. Our family got to sit with a fennec fox and it was awesome! The trainer/zoologist didn't rush us, she was so thorough with her explanation and really enhanced the whole experience. We will certainly be back and hope they get more funding to expand!

It was more expensive than we expected for a small roadside zoo. Very clean and the snakes were of great variety as advertised. We visited on a Sunday afternoon but didn't stay long or get to see everything due to the crowds. More people were there than we thought should be in the small indoor area with covid. I would think a weekday visit would be a better experience. Also too muddy in the walkways and we skipped the petting zoo because of the mud as well.

Our family visited for spring break 2021 and had an absolute blast! The animals were active and healthy, the petting zoo was fun, staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly my kids truly enjoyed themselves. We especially loved how easy it was to navigate and just HOW MANY animals we got to see. We will definitely be coming back!
