This Top 10 Coldplay Songs list was based on a survey we did at a recent Coldplay concert in New York City back in September of 2015. It was nice to travel back to the United States from England and see Coldplay perform in America after having seen them in London. The concert was held as part of the Global Citizen Festival. We figured why not ask those who love the band the most what they believe are the best Coldplay songs. Since this was a fan list, we will reserve comments and just give the important information about each song. Enjoy the list.

# 10 – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

Starting out the Top 10 Coldplay Songs list is the wonderful Coldplay song “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall,” The song was released on their 2011 album  Mylo Xyloto.  The song was the lead off single from the album Mylo Xyloto. “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100  charts in the United States.

# 9 – A Sky Full Of Stars

Coldplay’s 2014 Ghost Stories album delivered Coldplay fans an album full of fan favorites. The song  “A Sky Full of Stars,” was the third single released from the album. The song also received a Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Category during the 2015 Grammy Awards.

# 8 – Princess of China (With Rihanna)

This one was a surprise to us to be picked as one of the best Coldplay songs, but nonetheless, it received a lot of votes. The song was issued as the fourth single from the 2011 album Mylo Xyloto.

# 7 – Paradise

We just love this song, and it seems so do most Coldplay fans. The beautiful Coldplay song “Paradise,” was released on the very popular 2011 Mylo Xyloto album. It was the second single issued from that great record. The song also won for Best Rock Video at the 2012 MTV Music Awards

# 6 – Speed of Sound

Coldplay’s heavily nominated song “Speed of Sound,” was released on the 2005 album X&Y. The song was nominated for multiple American and British music awards. The song took home a “Brit Award,”  for Best British Single in 2006.

# 5 – Fix You

The top five Coldplay Songs all gained close to the same amount of votes. If we had continued to survey people, the list probably would have changed. But hey, we also did want to see the concert. “Fix You,” was a big favorite. It was released as the second single from the 2005 X&Y album

# 4 – Yellow

“Yellow,” is one of Coldplay’s earliest hits. The song was released on their debut album Parachutes. It was the second single released from the album. The song has been credited as being the recording that thrust Coldplay into the international spotlight on their way to fame and glory.

# 3 – Viva La Vida

Everyone loves “Viva La Vida!” The song is one of their most popular recordings on a worldwide basis. The song was released on the band’s fourth album, Viva La Vida. The song “Viva La Vida,” won a Grammy for Song Of The Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards. There are certain rock songs in classic rock history that just lend themselves well to extreme cinematic imagery. This is easily one of those songs. It’s history, its fantasy, its a story, it’s a massic cultural song that you just can’t get out of your head the first time you hear it. What a hook!

# 2 – The Scientist

The difference between the top 2 songs came down to one vote.  The song “The Scientist,” was the second single from Coldplay’s second studio album, A Rush of Blood to the Head. The song reached No. 34 on the U.S. Billboard Charts, No.10 on the U.K. Charts, and No. 1 on the Polish music charts. Interesting stuff!

# 1- Clocks

How can you not love that great piano riff that fuels one of the most loved Coldplay Songs of all time. The song “Clocks,” was released on their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head. The song won a Grammy in 2003 for Record of the Year. Yes, this might be a safe pick, but so what? The song stands as one of the all-time classic rock numbers of the 2000s. This is what you call classic rock for the 2000s.
