Very informative sight. The veterans sharing how things worked was very interesting and authentic. A lot of things to see, try out and get an impression of how it must have been on the ship. We spent several hours and didn’t even listen to everything.

The animals are great in natural habitat. Lots of fun walking through labyrinth paths to all animals. Need a full day there, for sure to see all/most. Do open air bus tour first to get oriented.

None of the reviews mention the pungent odor immediately noticed when you open your car door. It can be nauseating, as it’s extremely overwhelming. While the views are breathtaking, so is the smell in the air. Thousands of birds as well as a few hundred sea lion and seals call this cove home. Keep in mind this is not a zoo, there is not a zoo keeper to clean up after the animals.

We had 14 days in San diego and spent 5 of them in Balboa park. One day Japanese garden with blooming cherry trees. One day at AIr & Space museum--play the design and landing of a jet! Another at several art museums, Natural history museums, Museum of US (us not United States)was fascinating! Another in an open air organ concert in a charming venue. There appear to always be special programs happening. Little restaurants to get a snack or meal or drink. Figure out the parking the first time , then it is easy. Help desk gives helpful advice tailored to wht you want to see.

Spent the afternoon at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Admission was $15 for the car. Upon entering the reserve, we drove up the hill and stopped at the Visitor Center. The docent at the Visitor Center gave us information about the trails and reserve. We then proceeded to the trailhead area directly across from the visitor center and discussed with another docent the trails that we were considering. We hiked the 2.3 miles Beach Trail Loop, the 0.66 miles Guy Fleming Trail, and half of the Razor Point trail (1.3 miles)
From the Visitor Center the Beach Trail Loop descends steadily to the beach The trail was well marked and easy to follow. At the beach we turned right and walked along the ocean for perhaps 0.50 miles. Our timing coincided with low tide which according to the docents is an important consideration when doing this trail as a loop. The final section of the trail was uphill and much of the trail is adjacent to the road that we drove on earlier to reach the Visitor Center, so we knew what to expect. On the hike to the Visitor Center, we passed the trailhead of the Guy Fleming Trail and opted to do this trail as well.
We would have liked to completed the Razon Point Trail but simply ran out of time as we had commitments for that evening.
We completed these hikes on May 8th. The weather was perfect and the cacti and wildflowers were blooming.
We are not local to the area and really enjoyed our time in the park.

We visited the Cabrillo National Monument this weekend, and it was beautiful. It was a brilliant day.

We're members, and we were visiting on our last month of our membership, April 2024.

After we passed through the gate, we drove down to the lower level. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!!!

We love to see the sea lions and pelicans, and hear the crashing of the waves.

We then drove up to the top, to the what you would call the Visitors Center. We went to the lookout, then the Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo Statue.

After that, we split up. Gonzalo headed up to the Cabrillo Lighthouse, and I headed to the theater for the film. It was all about the discovery of San Diego by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and his crew.

It was another brilliant day at the Cabrillo National Monument.

    Spectacular sunsets!!!

Parking can be tough...especially as your approach sunset time.

The limited lots fill up quickly but there is a decent amount of street parking along Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and nearby side streets.

We arrived to the area about 30 minutes before sunset and although the lots were full, we got parking on Sunset Cliffs Blvd. I would expect it may be a little tougher on the weekends or during peak vacation times.

Be sure to give yourself some time to walk along Sunset Cliffs Blvd. as there are multiple cliffs and coves offering a variety of views throughout sunset.

As expected...once th sun has set...traffic to leave the area is a bit rough.

We kept seeing this place from down below. After finally making it up there, we saw that what we were seeing was the monument under wraps for refurbishment. Nonetheless it’s a very moving tribute and it’s a beautiful spot for it. On top of the hill with unobstructed views of the surrounding area. It wasn’t a very clear day but still spectacular.

We drove over to Coronado Island and back on the bridge. It’s very easy to get on it on both ends. I hear the views are great, I was driving and it was white knuckles both ways. Tall bridges with short side rails are great for views, but they make me uneasy for sure. Still, it’s beautiful to look at.

Wonderful views of ocean and of Coronado Island and naval base. Tide pools are interesting to explore, as well as the Cabrillo Monument area and the lighthouse

Stopped on Saturday morning, but no paraglides were flying. But it’s a great place for scenic views of cliffs and ocean. There is on-site parking and a small quick service window for food. We spent an hour or so walking around and taking it all in.

There are few places nicer than LJ shores to spend a day. Sea lions and seals so close by, scuba diving, surfing, lounging in the sand... plus a park for the kids. This beach is usually patrolled and also super clean. Great way to spend a day and cafes/restaurants are just a short walk away. TIP -- shuffle your feet when in the water to scoot away stingrays.

Lovely little area filled with shops, restaurants, bars and souvenirs. When parking at the Navy Pier Lot to visit USS Midway, you have multiple choice of time slots you can pick. I picked 2-6 hours which gave us time to walk down the short pier to visit Seaport Village. We were there on a Sunday, it wasn’t too busy, they even had some colorfully dressed dancers performing in on of the public areas.
