Mauricio ist einer der wenigen Glücklichen, die von ihrer Musik eigentlich ganz gut leben können, aber vollkommen zufrieden ist der Rock’n’Roll-Musiker mit seiner Lage zwischen Kunst und Kommerz nicht: Er begibt sich auf eine Reise nach Argentinien, um nach musikalischer Inspiration zu suchen und trifft dort die Chacarera-Legende Carlos Carabajal. Dieser zeigt ihm neben einer anderen Art, Musik zu machen auch eine neue Perspektive auf das Leben und für eine Weile vermischen sich die Lebenswege der beiden unterschiedlichen Musiker.
Selbstverständlich getragen von einem sensationellen Soundtrack, führt The Blue Star, der an die Geschichte des realen Musikers Mauricio Aznar angelehnt ist in die Welt des argentinischen Folklore-Lebensgefühls und stellt nebenbei ein paar alte Regeln des Spiel- und Dokumentarfilms auf den Kopf.

Über den Regisseur
Javier Macipe ist ein spanischer Regisseur und Drehbuchautor aus Aragón. Mit seinen Kurzfilmen Os meninos do rio (2014) und Gastos incluidos (2019) konnte er viele Gewinne bei verschiedenen Filmfestival in der ganzen Welt erzielen und war mit beiden jeweils für den Goya für den besten fiktionalen Kurzfilm nominiert. Mit La estrella azul (2023) präsentierte Macipe sein Spielfilmdebüt auf dem San Sebastián International Film Festival und gewann dort den Youth Jury Award und den Cooperación Española Award.
