Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Long wait and slow service but the food was worth it. Our table had the huge Cochon au Lait Po-Boy (big enough for 2 meals) and gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans & rice sampler, all of which I would recommend. The excellent live music helped...ease the annoyance of the slow meal.More

I'm not sure what I was expecting but this was not it. Maybe it was the seating we were given but EVERY time someone walked past our table, our drinks splashed and my chair dipped. Thought I might actually fall through the floor. The food...was okay, definitely nothing to write home about. Husband had the jambalaya which was bit dry. Rice was hard on the top but he did say that it had good flavor. I ordered the shrimp basket and the shrimp was incredibly seasoned. The fries that came with it were soggy at best. But, we didn't really come here for the food, we came for the jazz. The band was GREAT when the lead guy wasn't hounding everyone for tips. We get it, you make a living on tips, but to walk around complaining to the patrons that you're not getting tipped is rude. We had planned on putting money in the jug on the way out. Since he came to the table we put it in at that time but it just put a damper on things. The guy actually got into it with some patrons at the bar who kept saying "We got you" but he kept complaining about no one tipping. Just put a damper on things as we were trying to enjoy the music. Overall I'd give it a 6/10.More

We were walking down french street and heard the most magical dixieland jazz floating out of this place. Walked in and got a seat at an elevated table and had a delicious mango pecan salad while we enjoyed the dulcet tones of Eight Dice Cloth...band. A perfectly curated NOLA experience.More

I went to Maison on the Saturday night before Halloween with a group of about 10-12 friends. We bought drinks on the first floor and walked up the stairs to the 3rd floor. We were only up there for a moment before a man came...up to me and ripped my drink from my hand. I later found out that he was working security for Maison, but he was in regular street clothes and a full face mask (nothing to indicate that he was security). After he took the drink and threw it on the floor, he proceeded to yell in my face that I needed to leave. When I backed away from him because I was confused and scared, he yelled “I’m not playing around, y’all have to get the f*** out.” He grabbed my arm and started to try to pull me away from my friends and towards the door. My friends stepped in and he left. A couple minutes later, he came back with another man who was wearing a shirt that said “security.” The 2nd man came up to us and started ripping my friends’ drinks from their hands and telling us that we were underage and needed to leave. Neither of the men asked for IDs (none of us are underage and our IDs/vaccination cards were checked at the front door). They were both being physically aggressive, putting their hands on us and taking our drinks. One friend pulled out her ID and they just said “oh sorry” and left. I went back with 2 of my friends the next afternoon and spoke with a manager. I explained what happened and he asked for our contact information to follow up with us and try to resolve the situation. The manager said that the men working security would be fired (because they have had an issue with these 2 individuals being aggressive with customers in the recent past) and that I would get a phone call from the owner and a gift certificate. I didn’t receive any follow up call or email and while walking on Frenchmen St a couple weeks later, I saw the man who grabbed my arm was working security at the front door of Maison. We were not even refunded for the drinks that we paid for that were thrown on the ground.More

We were here to enjoy the music and arrived at just the perfect time. The earlier band was just finishing so we had the break between them and the next group. Ordered our drinks and actually got a table upstairs. Once the music started no...one was really sitting as the music called for dancing and singing along. The band was amazing and played music that everyone knows and can sing with. Even my husband got up and danced for a bit. Recommend a stroll on Frenchmen St to enjoy the ambiance, but make sure you end up here for the bands!More

We really enjoyed The Maison and the wonderful jazz band that was playing when we arrived. Later in the evening it changed to a live regae night which was less our thing but we still enjoyed our evening. NOTE- during band change over time don't...leave! The crowd disperses and you are almost guaranteed better seats/standing area for the next band. Plus, most bars have similar chage over times and will take around the same amount of time to change over the band.More

Such a great evening at The Maison! The band, Shotgun Jazz Band, was fantastic! Our food and drinks were really good and our server was lovely. We reserved a table for $20, which I highly recommend on busy nights. We took our 12 and 14-year-olds,...who were allowed before 9 PM, and they had the best time.More

You should definitely check out the Frenchmen street area in New Orleans just slightly outside the French Quarter. There are some great bars/restaurants with live music and god food. There is also usually a market that sets up each night with all sorts of local...artists and creators that sell all sorts of unique items and art. The Maison had a fantastic jazz band playing. The atmosphere was fun. The service was good and the food was tasty. They offer various types of pub food like burgers, etc. The Cajun mac and cheese was awesome!More

We went for the Jazz Brunch. The food was exceptional. You have to order the candied bacon!!! We got very lucky to get a seat. I highly recommend making reservations. The music was upbeat swing with some dancing by Chance and Amy. The band was...fantastic! It was a great NOLA experience, and kid friendly which was a huge plus for us.More

This place was incredible. We booked a table for dinner, had a great view of the jazz band, ate incredible gumbo, and had a phenomenal time. I highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and music away from the craziness of Bourbon Street.

Go for the music and dancing. Food pretty good but service uneven. Good sliders and chicken pasta. Nice because you don’t have to be 21 to enjoy the music and food here. Bars won’t allow minors. We parked on street at a meter close by.

There is usually a band playing when you walk in here. On this day, we headed to the bar for a Bloody Mary. It was mid-afternoon and we needed a snack. I am always amazed at everything that can be contained together with a Bloody...Mary. These were very good. The bartender was also very knowledgeable. We also enjoyed that conversation. Overall an excellent rest stop on the highway of life.More

Came here on recommendation of locals. Music was good. Service was friendly but very slow (wait staff disappeared a lot). Food OK, mostly bar food. Somewhat expensive drinks. Watch the check... They tack on 20% service charge. Probably why the servers have no incentive to...give good service. Was worth the visit given the music, and much better than Bourbon street bars.More

Wanted to get out of the main stream part of French Quarter so my wife wanted to hit Frenchman Street. Stopped in for the live music. Wonderful music. Got a couple beers and tried some appetizers: fried pickles, crawfish bites, Jambalaya. All were disappointing. Drink...beer, listen to music. Pass on the food.More
