Such a good family drama/coming of age but I think it lacks something—
Anne’s performance was superb as always. She should have been nominated for an Oscar even though she was in a TV movie. And as I've always said seriously, any man who made her cry or left her should go to hell!
the laughs are more mournful, almost Chekhovian, when played for the camera. Bancroft wipes the floor. Duh.
my favorite Simon. his best written and most fulfilling work imo. it’s not particularly important or inspiring drama but I count it among my favorite plays
I love Brighton Beach Memoirs, I think Biloxi Blues is great. The final movie in the Eugene Jerome trilogy has eluded me for a while. The movie has a great cast. Now what's interesting is that Eugene is more of a supporting character in this movie. The real star is Anne Bancroft as his mother. She's really good in this. Hume Cronyn also gives a really good performance. I don't know how and if the play differs from the movie, but out of the three movies in the trilogy, this one is the least comedic. There are jokes amd funny parts, but this one is mover overly dramatic. Jonathan Silver and Corey Parker are really good together. I wish they…
