Were Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins ever involved romantically? Or has it always been a “parental” relationship between the pair as Hutchins claims? The Olympic decathlete Jenner and young entrepreneur have been rumored to be dating for years, even leading to news about an apparent engagement. Pepperdine University, Malibu graduate Sophia Hutchins has a background in finance and economics. Prior to that she grew up and stayed in Seattle, making her dental hygienist single mother proud by becoming a three-time state high school debate champion. In University, Hutchins always planned a career in finance while identifying as Scott, a gay man. But things changed for the reigning class president in 2016 when she took a semester off to transition. Even back then it was watching Jenner on 20/20 that served as an inspiration to Hutchins as she embraced her new life. She joined back college and hired a hair and makeup glam team, a hairstylist and makeup artist from which, helped Hutchins get introduced to her idol Jenner. He told Hutchins how Jenner has heard of her through him and took her along to a MAC shoot. 2017 then saw the 70-year-old television personality hire Hutchins as manager and asking her to move into the former’s house in Malibu.
Hutchins was staying in Beverly Hills and was all ready to graduate and move to New York to pursue a career in finance when Jenner and she started working together. According to Hutchins, Jenner didn’t have a manager after her divorce with Kris, and her new friend found her some public speaking engagements. “It was a financial s**t show,” Hutchins said about Jenner’s life the first time they met while speaking to Juicy Scoop. But it was Hutchins moving in with someone she had a 49-year-old age gap with, is what set the rumor mills on overdrive. The pair jet set to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in October to bring in Jenner’s birthday, and Hutchins was seen with the former Olympian at Kendall’s 22nd birthday party in November 2017. By June 2018 and quite a few Jenner public appearances later, Jenner was spotted with the model after reportedly having missed out attending son Brody’s wedding. She soon attended the 2018 ESPYs with Hutchins in July which led people to label her as the KUWTK star’s girlfriend. It was their first official public outing after staying in the same house and Jenner’s Instagram caption “life is good,” sparked more gossip. Soon enough, Hutchins during a Q&A session with her followers on Instagram, replied to a fan’s “Are you in a relationship?” question with a heart-eyes emoji. But when another fan asked if it was Cait, her reply was a rolling eyes emoji. Meanwhile, rumors of the pair being engaged and wanting to have a baby started doing the rounds mid-2018.
August saw Caitlyn breaking her silence by saying, “We are not going to get into that, but we are very close. We’re kind of inseparable,” as Sophia teased a fan who asked her about their engagement with, “I'll show you the ring when I am." Jenner and Hutchins attended Kylie’s 21st birthday in West Hollywood. Soon there were reports of Kanye West wanting to recruit Hutchins as a model for his fashion brand Yeezy after Caitlyn had thanked him for sending across a pair of shoes for the model. By October Hutchins denied being romantically involved with her house-mate by telling Out, “I would not use the word girlfriend. I would not say we’re dating. I would say we’re partners.” She was also appointed as CEO of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation which was created with an aim to promote equality and combat discrimination against transgender people. The pair’s Malibu house was almost destroyed by the Woolsey fire in November but good times lay ahead as the model joined Caitlyn to spend Thanksgiving with the Jenner family. And later left fans shocked when they proved that the Kardashians were okay with Hutchins’ presence too by showing up at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Christmas Party in 2018.
KUWTK's Jenner was joined by her platonic partner at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2019 and the twosome brought in Hutchins’ 23rd birthday together with friends and family at their $3.58 million Malibu mansion. The model also soon launched her company, Lumasol “the future of health + technology" which was to be based in New York. Her flying back and forth between the Big Apple and Los Angeles ignited a few rumors of her separation from Jenner, but the two stayed close. Her product, an FDA-approved odorless SPF 50+ sunscreen mist raised around $3 million in seed funding, and Khloe Kardashian complimented her by saying, “She's younger but like, she's not bothering anyone. She's super sweet,” as per E! Online. Meanwhile, the former athlete Jenner was secured a spot the cast of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! by her manager in December 2019 where she came in at the sixth place, and Hutchins spoke to the New York Times to confirm once again that she wasn’t ever romantically involved with Jenner. After having attended Jenner’s 70th birthday celebrations with her family, she also revealed, “I’m on good terms with all the family, but I’m closest with Kris, Kim, Kylie, and Kendall.” She confided in the publication that she was in fact, dating a 30-year-old gentleman who graduated from Harvard and works on Wall Street.
Hutchins recently spoke about putting a lock on her bedroom door as Caitlyn has walked into her room while she was getting intimate with her lover. “Caitlyn decided to barge into my room while I had a friend over and you know... kind of saw a lot of things happening," the skincare entrepreneur was heard saying. "It's kind of like living with your parents,” Hutchins added further emphasizing her quote of “it’s very parental, very protective,” about her relationship with Jenner. Although the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and the young Hutchins kept denying their relationship, it was their frequent public appearances and the fact that they still stay together which led to the speculations of a romance. With Hutchins now declaring that even though living with Jenner “feels like family” to her, there was never any romance involved should put the rumors to rest… at least for a while.
