Can't sign in to Facebook on Edge browser

Using exact address that does work on Chrome to get into my Facebook account, I try to log in on my Edge browser. FAIL.
First it does show my log-in email as the same, but it does NOT have my profile picture which does appear on my Chrome sign-in to Facebook. (In Edge when I copy the same URL to the Edge browser, my profile picture is just a generate grey female icon.) Next, the error message in Edge tells me I misspelled my email address/sign-in account name/user ID, and they have "corrected it" for me (!), but it is NOT misspelled to begin with. Then, it will not accept my password. Says it's wrong when it isn't. (I have changed my password from Chrome on Facebook several times and stored in my stand-alone password keeper, so no question I have it right.)
Most likely this is a Facebook problem/glitch and "scannow" does nothing/finds nothing. But, perhaps someone here can lead me to a fix for this. Thanks in advance.

Hi Holly,

Good day! This is Jhakesong and I will be happy to assist you with this.

I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Try creating another Facebook account for testing purposes. Sign that newly created account in Chrome then in Edge. See if the issue is also present in Edge.

I suggest trying to reset Edge's settings and let's see if that makes a difference. Here's how:

1) Launch Edge
2) Click the 3 dots
3) Go to Settings
4) Click Reset Settings
5) Relaunch Edge, check if the issue persists.

Also, check if you have available updates for Edge. Here's how to check:

1) Launch Edge
2) Click the 3 dots
3) Go to Help and Feedback
4) Click About Microsoft Edge
5) The update should start downloading automatically if there is one available. Just allow it to update.
6) Relaunch after the update and check if the issue still persists.

Finally, if the same problem occurs, Try re registering Edge. Here is a procedure on how to do it.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

Thank you so much JhakeSong, for the very fast response to my issue!

At the moment my problem appears solved by removing any/all cookies relating to Facebook. I think this resolved it because there may have been conflicts with an OLD Facebook account I had a long time ago through the same email address. (a clue for me was that the current account has a profile photo; the old one did not.)

Since it now seems resolved I won't be doing your suggestions, but please be advised that unfortunately Facebook does not allow creating another account as you suggest--though I am sure lots of people would like to have alias/second accounts. (Interestingly, someone at Facebook, a client of a friend of mine, while working on a project had the same suggestion and yet it is their own policy preventing extra accounts.)

I'll keep your link for any future issues. Thanks again for responding. Have a lovely day.

Holly

Hi Holly,

Thanks for updating me. I am glad you were able to get it resolved regardless which method you followed. I will definitely keep your steps to resolve the issue so as if there are users who experience the same issue down the road could benefit from this.

Have a great day and Stay safe always.
