Phil Hoad Guardian It’s a terrible advert for organ donation but a compact and resourceful thriller. Rated: 3/5 Feb 8, 2023 Full Review Paul Lê Tales from the Paulside It doesn’t win points for originality either, but Lussier’s ability to keep the story always moving and exciting, despite the single location and simple story, helps tremendously in the long run. Rated: 3/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) Patrick Lussier’s film has a few good flourishes, but lots of dull stretches. Rated: 2/5 Mar 20, 2023 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Director Patrick Lussier has taken this promising nugget of plot and fashioned it into a tense and blackly comic thriller that keeps the tension ratcheting up. He was clearly working within a fairly constrained budget, but Play Dead never feels cheap. Rated: 4/5 Mar 16, 2023 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst Despite the ridiculous scenario, Play Dead does provide some tense, nerve-wracking action as Chloe attempts to avoid the creepy coroner. Gunn W If you're looking for the glitz and glam of Hollywood - without outstanding sets and $M budget - this is not your movie ! But if you are into the suspense /horror theme, you're going to have a wild ride. This film literally had me setting on the edge of my seat, with my hands all balled up until the scene was over. That's when I realized I was even doing it? The Plan: This sister is attempting to help her brother, by breaking into the police's evidence locker, where there was a cell phone which would incriminate him for 1st degree murder of his best friend! The easiest way into the evidence room is through the mortuary. So, this girl wakes up in a morgue (honestly, I've had worse dates) a little dazed until she remembered that she put herself in there on purpose, taking medication which would make her seem dead to doctors, then she'd recover over several hours. What she didn't count on was the Funeral Director - he's doing some crazy stuff!! CRAZY!! Which may cost her life if she's discovered.... HIGHLY RECOMMEND: If you're an action, suspenseful, a small amount of blood and guts, and few jump scares - You'll LOVE this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review exer c This movie was twice as long as it needed to be. Ridiculous repetitive shock is no longer shocking, it's boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review derrick B Written by college kids for a project? Had a couple suspenseful moments but the majority of it was stupid, especially the ending. Pass Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Bon Z I really like this movie. I like Jerry O'Connell and had not seen him for a while. This movie had a great story and great actors. What more do you need? Loved it actually. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Jarrod Matthew H Solid. It's Worthy. Rad Rating 89% Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review RoseQuartz The idea is good, but it made me so angry at time . So many chances for the main character then the other 2 to escape and they didn't take them. Seems like they just needed to fill time.
