Why is it that Tony is overlooked for his lead guitar playing? Of course, he is not a full-on shredder like most of the metal guitarist but those solos are so cool. My fav one is the solo section from Heaven and Hell.
Did his iconic riffs overshadow his solo playing? He is not mentioned in the page as his contemporaries Blackmore and Page, with regards to the solos. Also in Zep and Purple, there were lots of extended solo sections and soloing was a more prominent feature of the music.
