I am squeeing like the new issue of Tiger Beat is out!
I genuinely wonder how many people don't listen to the ads or intros/outros? I've been listening to the pod on a fairly regular basis since September ish and I swear he's mentioned Ronan by name or alluded to his New Yorker journalist bf atleast 20 times by now.
Lovett's mentioned Ronan a lot and if you also happen to follow Ronan Farrow's instagram or pay a lot of attention to twitter it's probably pretty obvious, but if you don't, there's no particular reason to think the random Ronan he mentions is well-known journalist Ronan Farrow, I guess.
🤔 I always thought the Spencer he goes to escape rooms with on a seemingly daily basis was his partner.
That’s some guy named Spencer Wong who he went to Williams College with and lives in LA.
We know too much about these guys lives.
The conspiracy theorist in me wants to be believe that "Spencer" is Ronan.
I thought that Spencer was a friend from college who he hung out with a lot.
They've been together since 2011!!! WHAT!!! How the hell are we just finding out about this...
They've been pretty open about it on - joking on the podcasts, on Twitter, Ronan posting Lovett on his Instagram at family events - but def part of it being more open just seems like the record-high interest in both of their careers at the same time.
Hilariously: there is also a few references to Katy Perry throwing Lovett's 30th birthday as a favor for Ronan.

Ronan Farrow is best friends with Shannon Woodward from West world. Shannon Woodward is also friends with Katy Perry. That would be where the Lovett to Katy connection comes from.
Also on Ronan’s Instagram there’s an iconic picture of Katy Perry, Josh Gad (who starred on Lovett’s sitcom, which I actually watched regularly in middle school to my eternal embarrassment), Cory Booker, DeRay McKesson, and whole host of other low level celebs and Lovett. Lovett is wearing a poodle skirt in said pic. Not sure if that’s related to this but it’s sure as hell cool.

It's been an open secret for quite a while now, this is just official confirmation. And Lovett had a very sweet bit on the Pod about Farrow after Farrow's Pulitzer and the Time profile that more or less presumed everybody already knew exactly what the relationship was.
Lovett dating up, very nice.
Genuinely - I really like Farrow for a lot of reasons, but his palpable disappointment and pressing Axelrod on Obama's failures in foreign policy esp during his first term was great.
I also am horrified that the picture of Lovett & Farrow at LA Pride and they are entirely in grayscale. Wear A COLOR between the two of you!!!!

Oh snap, I must have missed that. When it comes to hot goss, David Axelrod is usually my go-to.
I think it's interesting that in both of those podcasts he didn't say anything, the host was like "Your partner, my friend Jon Lovett", and in both cases the story is quite self-effacing. Here's the Kara Swisher bit:
Clearly if this is ever mentioned on the pod it's going to be when Favreau gets tired of entertaining long-time golf buddy jokes.

To me the big takeaway from this section of the interview is something which never gets spoken about as much as is should.
If you’re in a cab or any sort of ride share while having a total breakdown (or if you’re just incredibly drunk) tip the driver really well.
The rest of the interview is also worth listening to. It’s definitely interesting to hear an interview like this where it’s not just blandly promotional — they have some interesting genuine disagreements. Not what you normally hear on a book tour.
Yeah, Farrow really takes over the interview at a couple of points. It's not clear why Axelrod didn't turn him back around. I suspect that because of the show's relationship to the Kennedy Center he wants it to be more conversation than interview (which most of his politician guests aren't that good at). But it might be that with all of his time in politics, and given what a good reporter Farrow is, Axelrod just briefly forgot he could take control of the interview. The second option is more fun and it's the one I'm going with.
Axe very explicitly positions his interviews more as conversation than interrogation, and gets much more substantive and thoughtful exchanges that way because his guests know that he's not out to play gotcha, he's there for a substantive exchange of views. Something the PSA crew could stand to be better at.
