Lecture: Herakles, the ‘terma’ of the hippodrome and the delimitation of the Altis in Pindar’s ‘Third Olympian’

Alice Alcaras is a doctoral candidate at the University Paris Nanterre, where she is currently writing her thesis, ‘Sanctuaries and the Poetics of Architecture in Pindar’s odes’, under the supervision of Nadine Le Meur-Weissman and Jean-Charles Moretti. Her interest in the dialogue between lyric poetry and sacred architecture stems from her passion for Classical Philology and Art History, which made her pursue a masters both in Classics (École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, 2018) and in Classical Archaeology (University of Oxford, St. John’s College, 2019). Her visit at the University of Crete is funded by a Jean Walter Zellidja scholarship, granted by the Académie Française.
