I am going to be a first-year student. In my limited time on campus for visits I found the campus to be extremely nice. Everyone there was very down to Earth and included me in their activities. It felt like a second home. The cost of going to St. Olaf is more since it is a private college, however I wanted to have a private education and it was the first college that I toured that truly felt like I belonged there!
Very helpful staff, from professors to the dean. Lots of mental health resources are available, however there is a housing shortage. The food is very good with many options served daily. Kitchen staff listen to student feedback. Academics are rigorous but achievable.
I transferred to St Olaf at the start of my sophomore year, and overall its been pretty good. The academics are good, but the campus live is not amazing. Its very cliquey and sport oriented despite being a D3 school. Almost not party life, but you can find some if you are in with the right crowd. Carlton is right next to the school and they throw better parties.
