Slough police tighten stop and search powers after teenage boy robbed

Police in Slough have brought in extra stop and search powers after a robbery which left a boy needing hospital treatment.

The boy, in his late teens, was hospitalised after he suffered a cut to his leg during a robbery near Ferrers Close where his bag and e-scooter were taken.

No arrests have been made and he has since been discharged from hospital.

A Section 60 order, covering an area north of M4 between Cippenham and Upton, was put in place on Friday night and has been extended till 11am on Sunday (May 19).

The order gives police a right to stop and search people in a specific area without needing reasonable grounds.

Inspector Rupinder Gill, based at Slough police station, said: “Officers will continue to have extra stop and search powers whilst we investigate this incident.

“If you have any information about what happened please contact police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference 43240230674.

“Officers who are out and about are there to reassure you as well as using their powers under Section 60 so please do stop and speak with them about any concerns that you have.”

More information on stop and search is available on the Thames Valley Police website
