Italian movie- English subtitles

Culture

I would love to see a independent Italian movie while here in Rome, however I don’t speak Italian. I’ve seen movie theatres that will do English films but I can’t find any information on Italian films that may have English subtitles. Is that too rare to find?

No, it's not rare: it's non-existent. Most tourists don't come for the cinemas, or at most want to catch up the latest Hollywood blockbuster, most expats know Italian or are learning it, and of course English subtitles would be no use for Italians.

Makes a lot of sense, thank you

You will not find them. Italian movie are subbed in English only on streaming platforms or physical disks, if you are very old fashion.

I believe the only way you can do that is Netflix

Depending on your Region, you can Netflix Italian movies old and new releases. My suggestion is create another profile specific for the region: Italian, French, German, etc. Search online movies specific to said region and add to ‘favs’. Then the software will recommend viewing options, mini series, etc.
