I am reminded of how unique and original Dickey's sound is. The Allman Bros will never be the same without him.Warren is great but Dickey is the real thing and Trucks is a screech owl next to Betts. That said, I'm disappointed at the number of solos that are edited in, ex. intro to Blue sky. I 'd rather hear what was played that night. Frankie on drums was not on. Toler's playing is as tasty as I've heard anywhere. Dickey's slide playing is excellent, and he is a versatile writer.Without Dickey's songs, the ABB are a second rate blues band and no more.

Dickey Betts is as drunk as a skunk on this DVD. The faces he makes during his solos are hilarious. At times it looks like he's making #2 in his pants! The drummer (Frankie Lombardi) is all over the place as far as timing goes. The faces he makes behind the kit will have you bent over in laughter. There's one instance during "Ramblin Man" where the drummer (Lombardi) goes so out of time that he throws the entire band completely out of whack. Then you see the guitarist [Dan Toler] turn around and give the drummer [Lombardi] a look as if to say "What the hell are you doing back there?". There's also another incident where Lombardi reaches for his mic stand to start singing and he knocks the stand over and it falls right into his lap causing him to once again lose his timing. There's also another scene where you see the drummer [Lombardi] making faces as if he's ready to puke his brains out then all of a sudden you see him make a mad dash off the stage. Hahaha! What a mess for this poor guy. He must have had a heavy night of drinking/partying the night before the gig? Being a musician myself it saddens me to see this kind of stuff happen to such a good band. I really like Dickey Betts and Great Southern. I just think this happened to be an off night for them. Again, maybe too much partying the night before or during the gig? The DVD does have a "feelgood" vibe to it. I think most people will enjoy it. By the way, the Bass player was great and basically was the glue that held the entire performance together. The keyboard player wasn't too bad either but I heard him hit a few sour notes as well.

I'm a huge Betts fans but I'm not sure what to make of this DVD. Frankly, I listened to a few of the cuts, reboxed it and sold it on Ebay the next day. Yuk. The quality isn't there. If I'm not mistaken, there are wrong notes played throughout, and Duane's soloing is embarrassing. Dangerous Dan tries but has done better-I suspect he was distracted (and has since left the band-I can understand why). The backup guys are fine but the usually capable Lombardi needs to nix the Elizabeth Reed wierd timing and get back to basics-it doesn't sound right and it's hard to follow. And Betts, like Eric Clapton who is revisiting Cream finally, needs a more challenging environment to be at his best. Is this the "End Of The Line"?

Got this recently - loved Eat a Peach and Brothers and Sisters...so this offering was disappointing. Some good playing, but some problems as well. I agree with others about the drummer - some real glitches there! Great bass player - keyboards good but a little rough here and there. Dickey still playing some great lines, not many guitarists are instantly recognizable for having a unique sound, and he is one! But overall, hmmm......

Having been a fan of the Allman Bros for (dear me!) 34yrs, and having bought Dickey Betts & Great Southerns early releases on vinyl back in 77/78, I was thrilled to see this DVD pop up when i pressed the search button. I had no hesitation in ordering it immediately, it didn't dissappoint! D.Betts has always been one of my favourite guitarists, his mix of jazz, blues & rock styles make every solo a joy, and backed by a superb band which includes Dan Toler from the original Great Southern, this DVD is one to be enjoyed time & again. I would like to have seen some of the early DB&GS songs performed, but hey, you can't have everything. If you know the Allman Bros or Dickey Betts' music you will love this, if you don't know their music i advise you to do yourself a favour, buy it, you won't regret it!! Enjoy!!!
