Alpha Media has continued cutting jobs across its small market stations, this time with staffers — including news members — seeing their positions eliminated.

After cutting employees, including at 1300 KGLO in Mason City, Iowa last month, the company has eliminated on-air talents at its southern Minnesota stations in Mankato, Albert Lea/Austin. and Luverne.

According to a report from BringMeTheNews.com, the staff of SouthernMinnesotaNews.com was let go by Alpha Media.

In early May, Alpha cut the entire on-air programming staff at its five-station cluster in Missouri. Later cuts at other stations continue, with now employees in South Dakota reporting job losses, as well.

Greg Kelly: Hosts Opinions Can and Should Change Throughout the Years

“I am different from who I was politically in college.”

Opinions can change over time or when more evidence enters the picture. That’s why 77 WABC host Greg Kelly believes there should be some grace to hosts that often isn’t granted.

During The Greg Kelly Show, the host argued that he — like many people — have changed the older they’ve gotten.

“We were children when we were in college,” said Kelly. “A lot happens. People grow. People mature. And people have life experience. For me, I go to a place called Iraq. The biggest, stupidest war that should have been stopped. That should never have been fought. And I’m like, ‘Who the hell is gonna stand up and say that this is wrong? Am I really going into Baghdad right now? No one’s in any meaningful way in Congress saying no to this nonsense.’ So that was like that was a pivotal moment for me. I am different from who I was politically in college.”

A military veteran, Kelly broached the subject after a New York Times article focused on Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was quoted by Fox News host Shannon Bream during Fox News Sunday in May. In the piece, Stefanik’s college friends claimed the Congresswoman repeatedly and routinely denounced former President Donald Trump.

Greg Kelly shared that, in his view, it’s very clear people grow and change. He added hosts also have views different today than what they may have thought or believed in previous discussions.

After 42 years of updating Pittsburgh listeners on the latest traffic happenings, Kathy Berggren has stepped away from KDKA.

Berggren’s final day with the Audacy-owned station was Friday, departing after more than four decades in morning drive on the venerable news/talk station.

While speaking with morning host Larry Richert on her final day, Berggren shared how she began her radio career: with a pair of binoculars on top of the US Steel Tower with a two-way radio.

She joked that the job has gotten slightly easier now, utilizing a bevy of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation cameras to report.

“Kathy is the gold standard when it comes to traffic and as KDKA Radio (Brand Manager P.J. Kumanchik) put it, ‘Over the years and the different people to do it, she was the best,'” the station said.

Her final day concluded with an offer from the Pittsburgh Pirates to throw out the first pitch at a Spring Training game in 2025 at the team’s complex in Bradenton, Florida.
