Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Friday held talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

The Azimio boss then later saw off the Ugandan Head of State after he concluded his three-day state visit to Kenya.

The Opposition Chief revealed that he and Museveni revisited the dream of a united East African Community.

In February, Museveni endorsed Raila after he launched a bid for the African Union chair position.

Raila thanked Museveni for his continued support towards the AU chair bid.

"I held discussions with and saw off President Yoweri Museveni who has been on a state visit to Kenya. We revisited our dream of a united East African Community (Jumuiya). I thank him for the continued support of my African Union Commission candidature," Raila said.

Raila was joined by the Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen took to his Facebook to share the pictures of them bidding farewell to Museveni.

"During the visit, President William Ruto and President Museveni discussed and signed several bilateral agreements, including Trade and Transport infrastructure development MoUs," Murkomen said.

He added that both Heads of State emphasised the importance of extending the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to Malaba and Kampala and DRC as an efficient and sustainable infrastructure for regional transport.

"As a Ministry, we, together with Ministers in our partner states, are committed to taking measures and mobilising resources for the implementation of the regional shared infrastructure," he wrote.

On Thursday, Kenya and Uganda signed seven Memoranda of Understanding to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

President William Ruto said Kenya and Uganda are firmly united by relations deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and aspirations for regional peace and prosperity.

The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding to anchor cooperation in the Foreign Service institutions which ensures knowledge exchange and harmonisation of the structures and content of diplomatic training.

The President said that an MoU on Cooperation on Public Service Management and Development will enhance service delivery between the two nations.

"In addition to these, an MoU to facilitate cooperation in youth affairs has been signed, which enables us to optimise the capabilities of our youthful demographic group by obliging the two countries to implement Innovative national policies and programmes relevant to young people," he said.

The President said the JMC witnessed the signing of an MoU on cooperation in sports demonstrating the seriousness both countries attach to sports promotion and development and the mobilisation of investment that unlocks the potential of the sector.

He said the MoU is more timely as the countries lay the groundwork to jointly host the 2027 edition of the African Cup of Nations tournament.

Ruto said the two countries have an instrument to guide strategic cooperation in education, training, and scientific research, as well as MOUs in the small and medium-sized enterprises sector, and gender equality and women's empowerment.
