What a lovely shelving unit!! I am absolutely in love with this guy. It’s very handsome and statuesque. It took my husband about an hour to assemble. So much nicer in person than the pics. Very sturdy and well made. Ample room for book collections or display items. I put some items on for picture purposes. It comes with anchoring straps to secure it to the wall, which we easily did. This is a beautiful addition to any room in your house!!!. Darlene. Scranton, PA. 2021-12-15 10:02:59
This is a beautiful bookcase. We purchased it because we liked the open back. Our walls are in good condition. We have a bold color and didn't want to repaint. The side design makes me think of a Moroccan look and has a light and airy feel to it. The assembly can be done with one patient person who has a few hours. We purchased two bookcases and had a helper assembling the second bookcase. It was a faster job aligning the shelves using a helper for the second side assembly. One assembly note that gave us pause... after the shelf looks to be done there are still two pieces with predrilled holes (on the pieces not predrilled on the unit) that are meant to be installed in the back at the base and top. The install locations are clearly shown on the picture directions and presumably these additional pieces are for stability. It was odd that the unit didn't have predrilled holes for alignment the same as the other areas. We worked with caution to avoid damaging the wood when inserting the screws. The wood is soft enough that you can get the screws inserted without the predrilled holes on the unit and without any splitting or cracking. The tricky part is that the directions are not clear on exactly how to align these pieces. The pre-driled holes on the pieces are intentionally off-center. Just be sure to pay attention to the alignment before you start with the screws for these two pieces. If you check from the front view it will be obvious if you need to flip the piece in the opposite direction. The design has a shelf edge on all shelves at the back that is about an inch high. This extra piece should be aligned to give that same look but you need the double check view from the front before attaching. This extra bit of caution will make sure you have the pieces properly aligned to avoid any damage when you insert the screws. If you only work from the back you could possibly install with the drilled holes showing on the front or the screws not hitting the shelf at the center and poking through. We decided to only add the extra piece to the top because we have wall molding at the base of the wall that is about the same thickness. By using only one brace piece it allowed the shelf to be flush agaist the wall. We will save the bottom piece as an extra if we decide to move the shelf to a different spot in the house. This is strong/solid furniture, but the side design pieces are delicate that I suggest not grabbing them as you move the piece around during assembly. We broke one, but the damage can be hidden. This is a tall piece of furniture and comes with a wall strap to secure and avoid tipovers if you have kiddos or climbers in your house.
