Talking on the Forrest thread about him playing with Boruc and Hinkel, I just looked up Hart’s first season with Man City and he played with Samaras, Joey the fandan Barton, 3 other ex-huns in DaMarcus Beasley, Claudio Reyna and Michael not the singer Ball, Celtic fan and occasional idiot Trevor Sinclair, KDS man of mystery Sylvain Distin, as well as a couple other guys who seemingly played a thousand years ago like Paul Dickov and Dietmar Hamann.

Has been a brilliant keeper for us, comparable with FF and AB in levels of importance, albeit very different in styles.

The way we have played this last 2-3 years, I'm not sure FF or AB could play it. Hart is a football player who is a goalkeeper.
Whit? FFS
Whit whit? I think you said he is "nowhere near the level of FF or AB".  I said (in general, not in reply to you )he has been comparable to them.

AB and FF never had a fraction of the involvement in ball retention JH has. He has been a more than decent keeper, but he's been pretty central to how we played this last three seasons.

If he makes the cup final, is it 703 total career games, or was last night 701 league games?

I hope there is at least some sort of presentation for him before his final game. It's a phenomenal amount, especially when you consider he was been reduced to a substitute at times.

I cannot get over in this age of modern mercenary footballers, (even those we love and adore) the story of a man who will walk away from earning £60/70k a week in the English Premier league as a sub and will come to play for Celtic for what they say is £15k per week. It speaks volumes about him. Especially when he doesn't have any known connection to the club.

He does now. Enjoy a long and happy retirement old bhoy, I think he will become a mainstay on tv at some point.
I posted about the 15k p/w. This is the only time I have ever heard a players wages, but he was on 45k p/w at spurs as third keeper, was told he was never going to play no matter what he showed up like in training other than in an emergency. Was going to ask to be released from contract and retire. When Celtic came in for him he said if you give me a 3 year deal and start me as number 1 I will take the years wage I’m due at Spurs over the 3 year duration of my contract. This is gospel.

I don't know if Joe "gets" Celtic as that term is sometimes used but Jesus Christ he seems to be enjoying himself. Going and grabbing the banner, war face on, pumping up the crowd

Would love to see him just become the most mental Celtic ultra, doing a "Boruc Travels With Legia" and climbing a enclosure fence somewhere in Europe to wave a flare at the home support and invite them for a square go.

I think Hart easily slots into the top 3 goalkeepers in the last three decades (00s - Boruc, 10s - FF, 20s - Hart). Has he made his fair share of mistakes? Yes. I'm sure he will be the first to admit he has but he has been more often good than bad, often pulled us out of a hole and you only need to watch last night to see the influence he has had in helping the team over the line. AJ specifically called him out with the last minute league win.

Don't think it's unfair to say he has been important. Afterall those he works with have been the ones saying it.

Although not sure I'd say he is a football player who is a goalkeeper. If he was Pep wouldn't have binned him for Claudio Bravo who is neither footballer or keeper.

Thanks Mitchy for confirming. I was wondering if I'd heard it in on ACSOM, maybe there too. I also thought we'd only signed him for two years tbh and he extended one year. Shows what I know.

Anyways, it is still pretty remarkable in the days of elite players sulking when dropped, going missing or downing tools when transfers refused and feeling slighted when only given a sports car for their birthday by the owner etc. Not sure we'll see this behavior ever again.

I love the big bastard

BTW what's the story about him and Matt O'Riley being overheard talking about the fans at the player of the year do?

I expect we will see big Joe in tears over the next two weeks, hoping it is in the best way possible.

Heard he was a good guy with the young Celtic fans, let them take shots at him outside Celtic Park. I don't know him myself but he did his best for Celtic when here I'd say. Prefer big Joe though and he'll be a big miss hh

@luca

thought I'd heard something which was overheard (does that make sense) about them speaking at the hydro event. Maybe Hart explaining this doesn't happen at most clubs.  But I might be extrapolating. Anyone confirm or have I imagined it?
