Norwich City don't need to hide in their pursuit of the Premier League, winger Christian Fassnacht has said.
The Canaries are hoping to take another step closer to a top-flight return by upsetting the odds and conquering Leeds United in Thursday's play-off second leg after a goalless draw at Carrow Road on Sunday.
Fassnacht, who is enjoying his first season at Norwich despite failing to nail down a starting berth, is confident that they can find a route past Leeds.
"Leeds should have been promoted straight away. But we played very well away from home," the Swiss winger told Blick.
"[Promotion] would be awesome! It would be the crowning achievement. In 2024, only Leeds and Ipswich have scored more points than us. We don't have to hide.
"The Championship is incredibly exciting, attractive – and incomprehensible. Everyone beats everyone. It is pure football. I enjoy it.
"The game never stands still. It goes back and forth. Everyone who has seen a game for the first time raves about it because it is extremely attractive.
"Someone recently told me that for the first time this season, with three or four exceptions, there are only teams in the Championship that have already played in the Premier League. Which is why everyone is ambitious."
Fassnacht's move to Carrow Road from Young Boys last summer reunited him with David Wagner, with the pair working together during the City boss' spell in charge of the Bern based club.
Wagner was sacked after losing out on the league title to FC Zurich. He endured similar struggles at Carrow Road in autumn but managed to transform their fortunes to secure a top-six finish.
"Yes [it has gone better for him than at Young Boys]. But he also had a difficult time with us. In contrast to YB, he was given the necessary time here.
"He was able to turn things around. And now we are in the playoffs. The situation in Bern was unfortunate for him, and many players were injured. For me too, it was a season to forget.
"It was just a nice side effect that I already knew the trainer. I first had contact with the club and only later with the coach."
