NEW YORK (PIX11) — An unsettled stretch develops and lasts through the midweek period. Along with some periods of rain, it will also be cool.

While temperatures warm back and the sun returns on Friday, the weekend may contend with more chances of rain in the forecast.

A few showers developed across western sections on Tuesday afternoon. Heading into the evening, the showers will shift east and become more numerous during the overnight hours. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s to around 60.

An area of low pressure will track to the south on Wednesday, bringing periods of rain throughout the day. There is a chance that the storm could shift further south, and that will lower the rainfall amounts.

Regardless of how much rain we get, an easterly wind will prevail, making it a raw and damp day. Temperatures will stay in the 60s.

The system will be slow to exit the region, keeping the chances of some leftover showers around until Thursday. Temperatures will remain on the cool side as well, peaking in the upper 60s.

We will get a brief break on Friday as high pressure crosses the region. It will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will also be milder, with highs in the low to mid-70s.

There is some uncertainty about how the weekend will shape up. While there will be some rain chances in the forecast, it does not look like it will spoil either day at this point. Expect highs to cool back down into the mid- to upper 60s.
