Chan Named Finalist for Jack Nicklaus Award

(NORMAN, Okla.) – Junior Justin Chan of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

Currently ranked fourth in Scoreboard powered by Clippd's National Rankings with a scoring average of 72.6 over 22 rounds played, Chan carded two top-three and four top-10 finishes this season, leading the Tartans to a UAA Championship and Visit Florence Intercollegiate victories. The junior won both of his UAA Championship matches, finished second in the 125-person Golfweek October Classic where he recorded his collegiate-best round of six-under par 65. He also tied for third at the Visit Florence Intercollegiate. Chan was a PING Honorable Mention All-American last year. Chan has recorded 10 rounds of even par or better this season.

The other Division III finalists for the award include J.F. Aber of Wittenberg, Cam Cappuzzo and Cooper Hrabak of Methodist along with Jackson Klutznick of Emory. The winner of the award will be announced by Jack Nicklaus himself on Tuesday, June 4th at his annual Memorial press conference with awards presented to each of the recipients by Nicklaus and Workday.
