Agatha Disney+ Series Gets Official, Final Title and Release Date

It really was Agatha all along.

The Agatha spinoff series has an official title (for real this time) and a release date.

Kathryn Hahn revealed that the title is, fittingly, Agatha All Along at Disney's Upfront presentation today, and it'll premiere with two episodes on September 18.

Also at the upfront, Disney showed a brief first look at Ironheart, confirming that it will hit Disney+ in 2025, and shared a March 2025 release date for Daredevil: Born Again.

Those who were at the Upfront also got to watch the trailer for Agatha All Along, which hasn't been released online yet. It opened with Agatha Harkness not as the witch we saw in WandaVision, but as a detective struggling with a murder case. As she glances at a list of dates, next to October 13, a familar name appears: "W. Maximoff."

Aubrey Plaza's character appears after that, asking Agatha, "Is this really how you see yourself?"

"That witch is gone, leaving you in a distorted spell," Plaza says. "Claw your way out."

We then see Agatha snap out of it, saying, "She took every bit of power had. I can be that witch again."

What follows are a number of eerie, witchy sequences as Agatha vows to walk the Witch's Road and build her coven. Then, we get a quick look at Patti LuPone's character.

"What witch in her right mind would join Agatha Harkness' coven?" LuPone says.

Agatha gasps and responds, "I'm not looking for right-minded witches.

Yes, it really is called Agatha All Along.
Yes, it really is called Agatha All Along.

We first learned about Agatha the show years ago, back when Kathryn Hahn's character became a breakout hit from Disney+'s first MCU series, WandaVision. The witch (and, of course, her Emmy-winning song "Agatha All Along") quickly became a scene-stealer, and Disney announced in 2021 that she would get her own spinoff series.

Information has slowly trickled out since then, including a couple of name changes. It was originally called Agatha: House of Harkness, then Agatha: Coven of Chaos, then changed to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and then simply Agatha. Yesterday, several eagle-eyed social media watchers spotted that Marvel Studios tweeted and quickly deleted a photo that read "Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe," leading to speculation that Disney either accidentally leaked another new title, or was just fooling fans with a bit of meta marketing.

In addition to Hahn, Agatha also stars LuPone, Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Maria Dizzia, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Okwui Okpokwasili, with Emma Caulfield and Debra Jo Rupp reprising their roles from WandaVision. We don't know too much else about it yet, but it has been revealed that WandaVision songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez will be returning to contribute some more original songs to Agatha.

Agatha was originally supposed to debut around winter 2023, but was among the shows pushed back amid last year's writers' and actors' strikes and Disney's shifting plans for its streaming service. Disney continues to iron out its Marvel TV strategy, with CEO Bob Iger announcing at an earnings call last week that it would limit itself to two MCU shows per year.
