Winners will be recognized at a May 23 ceremony at Lincoln Center.

Company of Stereophonic Julieta Cervantes

Stereophonic is the most winning production of the 2024 Outer Critics Circle Awards, taking four categories, including Outstanding New Broadway Play. The production went into the awards as one of the most nominated of the season, though that top spot went to Audible Theater's Off-Broadway musical Dead Outlaw. That David Yazbek-Itamar Moses-Erik Della Penna show won three awards, including Outstanding New Off-Broadway musical.

Outstanding New Broadway Musical went to Suffs, and Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play went to recent Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner Primary Trust, while Oh, Mary! took the John Gassner Award for New American Play. Classic Stage Company's I Can Get It for You Wholesale won Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and Second Stage's Appropriate took Outstanding Revival of a Play.

Performer awards in Broadway categories all went to actors who are also 2024 Tony Award nominees, including Jessica Lange for Mother Play, Kara Young for Purlie Victorious, Kelli O'Hara for Days of Wine and Roses, and Kecia Lewis for Hell's Kitchen. Off-Broadway performance saw two ties: Featured Performer in an Off-Broadway Musical (Judy Kuhn for I Can Get It for You Wholesale and Thom Sesma for Dead Outlaw) and Lead Performer in an Off-Broadway Play (Cole Escola for Oh, Mary! and William Jackson Harper for Primary Trust). Also winning Off-Broadway performance categories were Andrew Durand for Dead Outlaw and Jay O. Sanders for Primary Trust.

Winners will be honored during a May 23 ceremony at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center's New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

The Outer Critics Circle's membership includes writers working for more than 90 newspapers, magazines, broadcast stations, and online news organizations worldwide. David Gordon leads the group as president, with a board of directors that also includes Richard Ridge, Joseph Cervelli, Patrick Hoffman, David Roberts, Cynthia Allen, Harry Haun, Dan Rubins, Janice Simpson, and Doug Strassler.

(Not considered for nominations were Off-Broadway's Here We Are, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, and Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice, none of which invited nominators to performances. Suffs was deemed eligible in Broadway categories after it was ruled at least 50% different from its earlier Off-Broadway staging, and Illinoise was considered for Off-Broadway categories due to the timing of its Broadway debut.)
