Our Fourth Form (Year 9) intake is around 180 pupils, with around a further 6-10 pupils joining in the Removes (Year 10). Historically, around an additional 50 pupils join the School in the Lower Sixth, after their GCSEs. However, this number is steadily increasing and has grown to 70 pupils for the 2023 cohort.
There are two routes to gain entry to Mill Hill School at the Fourth Form (Year 9).
Year 6 Track
We would recommend that parents considering 13+ (Year 9) entry for their child should follow the Year 6 Track route. Children sit the suitability stages in Year 6 and if successful, are offered a guaranteed place at Mill Hill School for the start of their Year 9.
Year 8 Chance Vacancy
For candidates who haven’t secured a guaranteed place via the Year 6 Track route (either as they were not offered a place or they didn’t sit the Year 6 Track process), there is an additional opportunity via the Year 8 Chance Vacancy Testing. As the name suggests, the candidates sit the test when they are in Year 8, with the aim to secure a place for the Fourth From (Year9).

Year 10 (Remove) places are extremely limited. Please contact the Admissions Office to register your interest. There are no Scholarships available at this entry point.
Sixth Form candidates are encouraged to apply in the Autumn Term of the year preceding entry and are generally required to have a minimum of two 7 and three 6 grades at GCSE, and a minimum of grade 5 in Mathematics and English, with some subject-specific requirements, as listed in our Sixth Form Curriculum Guide. In addition to the ‘traditional’ A Level offer, in September 2023, the School introduced BTEC in Sport. This pathway was open to elite performers who are linked with our Saracens Partnership.
The candidates wishing to apply in the Spring or Summer Terms should be aware that availability is likely to be limited. We request confidential references and predicted grades from candidates’ schools, and based on this information, those who appear most academically suitable are invited to a general interview with a member of our Senior Team. Offers are made to successful candidates, conditional upon achieving the required GCSE grades. A wide variety of Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries are available to candidates’ resident in the UK.
We encourage prospective pupils and parents to attend one of our Open Events. Our next Open Morning will take place in Spring 2024. Alternatively, you may wish to attend one of our Midweek Tours and Talks. The tours will be followed by an optional tailored talk given by a senior member of staff. Each talk will cover a different topic, such as Pupil wellbeing, Music, Drama, Sport, Academics and more. For details of our next Open Event, click here.
