The Minerva Scholarship program was established by Women in California Leadership to support the advancement of women in the State of California. Launched in 2015, the foundation was established with the purpose of empowering women and enhancing the lives of women and girls. To this end, the foundation is committed to providing scholarships to select women of promise in order to help them achieve their educational objectives.

The Scholarship Fund is awarded to students with the greatest financial need and satisfactory academic standing (2.5 GPA and completion of a high school diploma). It targets students from non-traditional home settings, those who have overcome obstacles to be graduated from high schools, and first-generation college attendees.

While most other scholarships focus exclusively on academic achievement or leadership potential, Horatio Alger Scholarships are also intended for promising students who have critical financial need, demonstrate integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and are determined to succeed.

I know that many of you have concerns about how to make a college education more affordable. Through a new, free program called RaiseMe, students can guarantee scholarships from 250+ colleges as early as 9th grade, making it easier to plan financially for school. The Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) Program educates and trains qualified young men and women for service as commissioned officers in the Navy's unrestricted line communities, the Navy Nurse Corps and the Marine Corps. As the largest single source of Navy and Marine Corps officers, the Navy ROTC Scholarship Program plays an important role in preparing mature young men and women for leadership and management positions in an increasingly technical Navy and Marine Corps.

NROTC awards scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process. Selected applicants receive full tuition, books stipend, educational fees and other financial benefits OR Room and Board at the country's leading colleges and universities. Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps.

NROTC Scholarships are available to qualified students who graduate from high school before August 1 of the year they intend to start college.
