The thing about audiobooks is that the narrator can really affect how you like the book. Luckily, this story was a fun read, regardless. I, personally, didn't prefer the choice in narrator - while she was actually really good during the dialogue parts, she was almost choppy during the narration portions. She nailed the teenage voice dripping with contempt as well as the main character, which made the fact that the rest of the story sounded so stilted even more confusing when you consider that the narration is told from the main character's perspective.

The story is compelling. It pulls the reader along as the main character and her stepdaughter set out to unravel what happened to the man that connects them. Needless to say, they are incredibly lucky that the memories they stumble upon and the few small clues they scrape upon lead them to the answers they are looking for, but if you are able to extend reality enough to accept the possibility that they could be so fortunate (which I was), then you will enjoy the ride.

Even more fun was the fact that a portion of the book takes place in Austin, Texas. Living near that part of the country, it was funny reading portions where Hannah asks "what the name of the football team in Austin is called" and "are you sure they are orange?" I am admittedly NOT a fan of the team, but it is WELL KNOWN that they are the Longhorns and YES, they are orange - burnt orange to be specific.

Having read the book, I am looking forward to watching the mini-series starring Jennifer Garner to see how they differ. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, fun read. No real language and little to no sexual content that I can recall.
