- ElBandolero_12Perth, Australia30 contributionsThe Tokyo government buildings in Shinjuku has two observation decks, south and north decks. This is free and have fabulous views. By comparison with Asakusa sky tree, besides being free, there's no queues.
At night and daily, from sunset to 9:30 pm there's a light show projected on the facade of building number 1. Free and very enjoyable.Written May 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It'll take you to another world for a while. It starts at 19:00 and every 30 minutes until 21:00. One show lasts for 15 minutes. The schedule will change in summer, so check it before heading out.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AoTenjoTokyo, Japan355 contributionsNice complex and hall facilities, so convenient with parking by car or close to Hatsudai station by train. The Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall was so nice for bit more casual audience too, but of course with good acoustics. Seems like they have a good line-up of performers. If you go, they also have a nice selection of casual restaurants and an open air atrium with a huge statue “Opera Man” that sings sometimes, and performers play.Written April 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AM SmithOzark, MO99 contributionsThe museum is fairly new and well organized. They offer a variety of exhibitions over a series of months. Most are deeply thematic or topic specific. For example, I just attended the Van Gogh Exhibition, which was specially a focus or study of Van Gogh’s still life works. The exhibit was very well organized, best enjoyed following their thoughtfully designed path. There are works by other artists of significance, but they are there to e enhance the understanding of Van Gogh’s work. The price was a bit high 2000 yen, but given how depth and breadth of the exhibition it is understandable.Written January 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MabelSingapore58 contributionsA small-ish shrine in Shinjuku's Central Park. It was a lovely visit as it was not overcrowded. A few locals came by during our brief visit there for prayers.Written May 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore9,820 contributionsThe huge departmental store is located just next to the bustling Shinjuku train station, covering 8 storeys (including the basements and one rooftop, which I will explain later).
It seems that it caters to everyone in the family, selling all kinds of merchandise including fashion, bags, shoes, cosmestics, toys etc. Escalators and lifts are easily accessible, just like the washrooms.
The lower basements are mainly supermarket and food stalls, where you will be spoiled for choices. And this is one of the most crowded places in the departmental store at any time of the day!
In addition, several medium to high end restaurants are located on the 8th storey, mainly Japanese and Western cuisines. This is "quieter" than at the basements and prices are generally steeper.
And if you go up another floor to the rooftop, there is a plant nursery outdoor and an indoor pets stores, selling all kinds of accessories relating to pets, dogs, cats, fishes etc. And I especially like this "greenery" as it allows shoppers to take a break from the "noise and crowd" from the lower floors and indulge in some peace and greenery. There is also a cafe here which you can help yourself with some fingerfood.
If you are into shopping and staying near the train station, you will not miss this huge departmental store for sure! Make sure you have sufficient time allocated here (and cash too) for shopping!Written December 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
