Hummm....This one is a VERY hard one for me to give a review for. I want to give it less than three stars, but dadgummit, it deserved the 3.The main reason you may ask? I know, I know, you're dying to know, so here it goes: Not once, did it say anything about a throbbing member, a alpha male, a male marking her, and or claiming her. Try as I might, I just couldn't bond with Belly. Their was nothing extraordinary about her. She wasn't exceptionally pretty, or kind, or intelligent, or witty...Nothing. I couldn't find one redeeming trait that would make two brothers fall madly in love with her. I grew so weary of hearing "At that moment, all the love I had for him was gone..." and then four chapters later, we get, "I now realize that love never really goes away, just changes." *Not direct quotes...but you get the jest.* I wish I could give a more detailed review, but then I might give away spoilers, and I'm not a fan of hate mail...so I shall leave it at that.

Jenny Han is one of my favorite authors, that statement based off only reading the To All the Boys trilogy. Now that I have read the series that started it all for her, I get more of an idea of her work. The Summer I Turned Pretty is a very dramatic trilogy, shall I say, (There is a lot of crying...) I really enjoyed it as it did have a very interesting plot and characters. I also binge read it within a two day time period so that was an interesting experience. I'm going to be talking about all three books so I hope you enjoy!

The first thing I want to talk about is the characters. There aren't like a huge amount of them but I do enjoy reading about all of them nevertheless. There were a couple of characters that I did have problems though. I thought Belly, the main character, was a little irritating. She cried....a lot....over things that had happened to her before, which was something that made me roll my eyes a bit because it just seemed like about 40% of this book was Belly crying or sulking. Like I understood why she cried over some situations but there were other situations where I totally did not understand why she was crying. I wanted to shake the girl and tell her to never let herself cry at the hands of a man! Also, I thought Conrad was jerk, about 90% of the time. Did I like him? Not much but he was tolerable.

Bingeing this series within a two day timespan was definitely a good choice on my part. Because so much time pasts between book one and book three, it's really interesting to compare the differences between the characters, look back on what has happened between the three books, and it's also so weird when the characters say something like "3 years ago" when really for me, it was only the last book, which I probably only finished about 2 hours ago. So, reading all three books so quickly and having so much time past between them really just made time past so quickly.

All in all, this was a pretty good summer series binge. I had a lot of fun following these characters through the three years this story takes place and it was fun to read about Belly's story. Not only did it have fun summer moments, but it dealt with many other problems that I did not expect this book to cover and it was very enjoyable. Jenny Han is a fabulous writer and based on her books, I can definitely see how it got better over time.

You Can Turn Pretty Too!

As a lover of realistic fiction and romance, this book jumped off the shelf for me. As a young girl, I've dealt with our society's expectations of women to look like supermodels when that is far from realistic, so the title of turning pretty attracted me right away. I was curious as to what this character went through in order to make such a desirable change over one summer before I dove into it. Once finishing the first few pages I couldn't put Han's writing down. I later learned that it isn't about changing her appearance physically but how others perceived her. I'd also heard from many of my fellow lovers of reading that they truly enjoyed the journey that the words took them through and I felt I created an emotional connection to the main character, Belly. Her desire to be seen as more than her brothers little sister and truly fit into the group of 3 boys that she has grown up with each summer. Her fight for adulthood, acceptance, and love carry her throughout this text and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story where you feel as if you could trade places with the main characters and live it out. I sure did!

Amazing love story, beach book, can't-put-down-read, ect.

Ok, I read this when I was 14. I've gotten 3 other people to read it and they 're in love. I'm not really gushy love story person, but I absolutely loved this series. I bought the 3 books at, I think Wal-Mart. It was my summer beach book and, well it just made me laugh, cry, scream, and sigh with the whole storyine.
I think it's because you connect with Belly so well. If you don't like the first one, events worst book critics would love the last one. We all remember or will remember what the title states... When we start to be noticed.

BEST YA SERIES !!!!

Honestly I've read a lot of young adult novels and nothing tops this series. I would reread each one and I never reread books. I wish Jenny Han turned this series into movies instead of to all the boys I've loved before, they would be my favorite movies 100%. My fingers are crossed 💖🎥
