Stephen King has spent decades writing horror and sci-fi novels, and his experience with the genre makes him an authoritative figure when it comes to other recommendations. The author has been sharing his opinions on other books, films, and series online for years, and he recently raved about Netflix's adaptation of 3 Body Problem.

The new hit series comes from the creators of the Game of Thrones series, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, alongside True Blood's Alexander Woo. D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. The sci-fi show, which premiered its first season in March, is based on Liu Cixin's bestselling trilogy. With another adaptation in China released in 2023, the Netflix show was very successful on the streaming platform, despite several controversies in China.

'Holy S—': Stephen King Has Strong Reaction to New Netflix Series
Stephen King is on board with the new Netflix series that has garnered a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

Stephen King is the latest person to share his thoughts on the series. Although a little late to the party, since his review came a little over a month after the show's release, his words are very encouraging. In a short tweet on X, the author gave a concise review of the series, calling it "extraordinary." He wrote, "THE 3 BODY PROBLEM (Netflix): Extraordinary science fiction series--sprawling, thought-provoking, immersive. The scenes of "first contact" are chilling and awe-inspiring."

3 Body Problem follows a fateful decision made in the 1960s in China, which ends up putting the future of the entire world in danger. The show is fairly faithful to the novels, but there are some big differences from the source material. The cast includes Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Benedict Wong, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Benedict Wong, and Jonathan Pryce.

Will 3 Body Problem Get a Second Season?

3 Body Problem was a hit on Netflix, claiming the first spot on Netflix's charts in its second week. Currently, in its seventh week since the release, the show is still in the top 10, in the ninth spot. The series received good reviews, as 3 Body Problem enjoys an identical 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from both the critics and the audience. However, despite the success the show has enjoyed since its release, Netflix has yet to officially renew the series. The source material consists of three novels, so the creators have expressed how long 3 Body Problem should be.

"There are three books. The first season roughly follows the arc of the first book, and the second season would probably roughly follow the second book. The third book is massive. It's twice as long, I think, as the other two books, so maybe that's one season, maybe it's two," Benioff said. "But I think we'd need at least three, maybe four seasons to tell the whole story." Given its good reception, it seems like it might be just a matter of time before Netflix renews the show.

3 Body Problem is exclusively streaming on Netflix.
