Kristen Stewart brought her cool, sophisticated style to the Met Gala.

The actress posed for photos on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in a classic Chanel ensemble with a modern twist.

The black-and-white suit look was composed of a cropped white blazer with a black collar, tailored black pants, a nude-and-white collared top made to look like a mini vest, and a short black tie, which doubled as a bow, with the Chanel logo. She finished the timeless look with white-and-black shoes by the French fashion house and a black belt with the “CC” logo in gold inside a buckle featuring the house’s iconic gold metal-and-black leather chain motif.

Stewart wore her short hair in a controlled messy 'do, and opted for nearly no makeup other than straight, penciled-in brows.

The look perfectly honored the theme of the night: "in honor of Karl." A Chanel ambassador since 2013, Stewart had a longstanding relationship with the house's late creative director Karl Lagerfeld.

Following his death on February 19, 2019, Stewart spoke to Vanity Fair about his warm personality and their close relationship. "It’s funny how he presents—so austere and so scary. He wasn’t, though," she said. "He was incredibly inviting—insanely, shockingly unpretentious. He liked what he liked because he liked it. He was a fancy motherfucker, but it was true to him. It’s almost like he sensed he was intimidating, so he was like, ‘No. To have a creative heart is daunting, but let’s get it beating faster and harder.’ He was always touching you while speaking to you. He never talked at you—if he was talking to you, he was usually holding your hand."

Over the years, Stewart has walked the red carpet in various glamorous Chanel looks.

At the 2022 Met Gala, the Spencer star eschewed conventional red carpet-wear and floor-length gowns for a cropped tuxedo with hot shorts from the French fashion house. She paired the black with a semi-sheer white button-up–which she wore unbuttoned–and black pumps.

At the 2019 Met Gala, Stewart showed out in a punk rock look by Chanel consisting of a sequined black top, loose white pants, black-and-white platforms, and layers of Chanel accessories, including a belt and beaded necklaces.

And most recently, Stewart attended the Berlin International Film Festival in a white ruffled gown by the brand that made her look like an elegant princess.
