Midas Touch: Why Some Entrepreneurs Get Rich-And Why Most Don't Hardcover – October 4, 2011
Purchase options and add-ons
In Midas Touch, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki ask the question: What’s an entrepreneur’s most important job? The answer: creating high-quality, stable jobs.
And in today’s marketplace, jobs” are in high demand and so are the skills and the innovation and vision of entrepreneurs.
In a world of high unemployment and an economy that needs new jobs to recover, who isn’t hungry for a solution, something that will speed economic recovery? Many look to the government, but it’s becoming more and more obvious that governments can’t create real jobs. Trump and Kiyosaki believe that only one group can bring our world back to prosperity: Entrepreneurs. And, especially, entrepreneurs with the Midas Touch.
This book is for people who are thinking of starting a business or who already have one and want to grow it. Midas Touch teaches how to leverage five key components that can impact success in business:

About the authors
Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad - the international runaway bestseller that has held a top spot on the New York Times bestsellers list for over six years - is an investor, entrepreneur and educator whose perspectives on money and investing fly in the face of conventional wisdom. He has, virtually single-handedly, challenged and changed the way tens of millions, around the world, think about money. In communicating his point of view on why 'old' advice - get a good job, save money, get out of debt, invest for the long term, and diversify - is 'bad' (both obsolete and flawed) advice, Robert has earned a reputation for straight talk, irreverence and courage.Rich Dad Poor Dad ranks as the longest-running bestseller on all four of the lists that report to Publisher's Weekly - The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today - and was named "USA Today's #1 Money Book" two years in a row. It is the third longest-running 'how-to' best seller of all time.Translated into 51 languages and available in 109 countries, the Rich Dad series has sold over 27 million copies worldwide and has dominated best sellers lists across Asia, Australia, South America, Mexico and Europe. In 2005, Robert was inducted into Amazon.com Hall of Fame as one of that bookseller's Top 25 Authors. There are currently 26 books in the Rich Dad series. In 2006 Robert teamed up with Donald Trump to co-author Why We Want You To Be Rich - Two Men - One Message. It debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestsellers list.Robert writes a bi-weekly column - 'Why the Rich Are Getting Richer' - for Yahoo! Finance and a monthly column titled 'Rich Returns' for Entrepreneur magazine.Prior to writing Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert created the educational board game CASHFLOW 101 to teach individuals the financial and investment strategies that his rich dad spent years teaching him. It was those same strategies that allowed Robert to retire at age 47.Today there are more that 2,100 CASHFLOW Clubs - game groups independent of the Rich Dad Company - in cities throughout the world.Born and raised in Hawaii, Robert Kiyosaki is a fourth-generation Japanese-American. After graduating from college in New York, Robert joined the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as an officer and helicopter gunship pilot. Following the war, Robert went to work in sales for Xerox Corporation and, in 1977, started a company that brought the first nylon and Velcro 'surfer wallets' to market. He founded an international education company in 1985 that taught business and investing to tens of thousands of students throughout the world. In 1994 Robert sold his business and, through his investments, was able to retire at the age of 47. During his short-lived retirement he wrote Rich Dad Poor Dad.
Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, continually setting the standards of excellence while expanding his interests in real estate, sports, and entertainment. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance. An accomplished author, Mr. Trump has authored over fifteen bestsellers and his first book, The Art of the Deal, is considered a business classic and one of the most successful business books of all time. Mr. Trump has over eight million followers on social media and is a frequent guest across a variety of media platforms. p13 "Entrepreneurs need to work 24/7 in the start-up phase, often working for free for months and even years. Its the number of hours worked for free that defines entrepreneurs and separates them from employees.
The number of hours working or practicing for free also determines the level of success you will have in anything….This is why its best to keep your daytime job and build your business in your spare time….you may be working for free for a long time.”
According to this book the cornerstones of a successful entrepreneur are:
Strength of character
Focus
Brand
Relationships
Little things that count
My favorite is strength of character which is essentially the entrepreneurial spirit. They defined this on p1 as “The entrepreneur’s ability to dream, win, lose and win again is often called the entrepreneurial spirit. It is what separates the entrepreneur from everyone else in business. It is what separates those who want to be entrepreneurs from those who can be entrepreneurs.”
I appreciate this book not being overly long as well. Most business books go on and on avoiding the heart of the issue basically padding the book with fluff to increase the book's size. This one does a good job with sticking to the core of the content. Again, great book and a must-read for every entrepreneur.
Tony Rogers Jr
Author of Visionary:Making a difference in a world that needs YOU
This is basically the business stories, and bios written in autobiography format by "The Donald" and Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad) and it is very enjoyable for anyone who understands just how difficult it is to make it in the private business world.
These men have the "Midas Touch" not by magic or good luck, but by simply working very hard, being extremely smart, enduring loses and learning from mistakes, and being persistent like a charging bull to obtain their objectives in spite of the odds against them or the cut throat heartless competition. The question for the reader who is interested in learning about business is, do you have what it takes to gain what these two masters have rightfully earned which is the "Midas Touch"??
Superstar, business real estate hotel casino expert, and man of the people Donald Trump along with risk taking "do it yourself" business professional Robert Kiyosaki simply challenge the readers to risk and struggle in their own private business pursuits in this very easy to read and delightful book.
Thumbs up and A for this good book.
What lifted this book to me was the fact that I was introduced to Robert Kiyosaki for the very first time. Having never read his other famouse books, this was the first time I ever heard his experiences or advice. I was very impressed with his writing and thought that he made a great reading partner with Trump. It mixed up the flavor of the book which made it highly enjoyable.
The focus of the book was broken up into five easy tools to succeed while each tool was discussed by both authors. This kept the reader entertained and into it.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and think that it is a good book for people that are interested in business motivation. Its also an easy read where someone can be able to read it in a few easy and enjoyable sittings.
I highly recommend this book to all businessmen.
Top reviews from other countries
Both of them have penned down their experience for everyone to follow
Gives great insight to the world of business and how one develops the "Midas Touch", while giving an abundance of practical examples from both Mr. Trump's and Mr. Kiyosaki's side. Very well structured, making re-reading for studying purposes very simple.
All in all, a definite must read for any serious entrepreneur ready to think outside of the mainstream business studies box.
