Friends recommended we try the Rhumb Line and we are glad we did. We were there for a Sunday evening show and even though we showed up a bit late and the band was already playing, we were able to get a table. November is...off season, so I think we might have been the only ones there who weren't locals or friends with the band! It was a very friendly atmosphere and the bar staff was very nice (as was the owner who introduced himself). We didn't eat much, but what we had was fine. The beer selection was good. It was an intimate location and the band was really good so we had a really enjoyable evening. We would gladly go back if we were in the area again.More

Is it true? Did Covid take The Rhum Line? I loved that place when I lived in Gloucester. Sat in with one of Susan Tedechis old band mates. Loud and crowded just like a good seafaring shanty should be. If anyone was rude it’s bc...it’s in Massachusetts! Met some nice guys there too.Ha.HaMore

My boyfriend likes going there for the music but it is just too loud for me. It's a small room with zero acoustics and my hearing is very sensitive. He says the music is great though and leaves me in the hotel.....Ha!

Basically an old person bar. Unfriendly. I am local but my son had an out of state license and was turned away...had his license thrown back at him. Lost a good customer in an instant. Much better and friendlier places to go.

bad place wait staff rude and they let you know your not welcome and it was only 8:00pm. We were told numerous time this is a locals only bar. We had one drink and left which left the half empty.

This is a down to earth bar that rocks at the weekends! At the weekend, we often drop in for a lunch or supper at the bar (we like the crab cakes) and a Bass ale (on draft). The music is usually danceable rock, folk...and blues (no emo kids to be seen) and when there is no music the bar is friendly and quiet. An excellent place to hang out.More

We stop in here often on our visits. The food is great and large portions. I usually get the chicken burrito my husband gets the Fred Burger with sweet potato fries. They give you this great dippy stuff for the sweet potato fries. We lucked...out the last time we were there and it was trivia night. What fun that was!!! The Steak sandwich is great as well as the French onion soup. Really enjoy the food and atmosphere!More

Make sure you give Fred the owner a tip of your hat. Not easy supporting an intimate bar and restaurant that features music 4x a week or more. The acts are great fun and good. If Brian King is around, you can't beat his music...and the friends who show up to sing along. Drinks are generous and the service goes as smoothly as the music, which covers a number of genres so check online and see what attracts you. Basic food selections are well prepared and satisfying. Really, stop by, it's well worth the visit.More

We have been going here for years when in Gloucester and have always enjoyed their specials and entertainment. The prices are fair for good sized portions, and arrive at the bar and tables have always been good.

Go for the music not the food. The bar is ok but the crowd noise make it difficult to have a conversation.

Great food!! Great prices!! Very laid back, casual, and relaxed atmosphere. Will be visiting again. Our hamburgers were huge, and full of flavor. Very juicy. The fries were awesome, and so were the drinks.

Informal setting with wrap around pub allowing patrons to sit in either a busier or quieter section of the pub restaurant. Friendly staff. Intimate setting to hear and watch live bands.

Great local bar but you would be more comfortable coming here as a local or at least with a local. Get the flavor of the Gloucester community. Service is good, made us feel welcome. Did not have food today but my wife has been here...before and says it is very good and consistent bar food.More
