Julian Cheung & Anita Yuen Celebrate 20th Wedding Anniversary With The Sweetest Posts
To think that back in 2007, a scandal looked like it was going to derail their marriage…
Hongkong actors Julian Cheung and Anita Yuen celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Feb 8, and posted short but sweet messages on their respective IG accounts to celebrate.
Anita started the ball rolling with a collage of photos that they’ve taken over the years, and captioned her post with, “Life’s journey is long and winding, [but] I hope our love will never fade. Happy 20th anniversary.”
Julian’s post was a little less sentimental as he shared a snap of a S$4400 Château Mouton Rothschild 2000, along with a vintage Moutai. His caption read, “We’re going to drink in celebration tonight. Happy 20th anniversary.” A day later, Anita shared photos of cakes and bouquets that their friends sent to them, thanking them for remembering the milestone.
Anita and Julian registered their marriage in the US in 2001, and have one child, 14-year-old Morton. In 2007, there were rumours of their relationship breaking down after Anita publicly admitted that she used to be a rich man’s mistress.
At the time, the actress said that she thought her relationship with the tycoon was just like any couple’s, and couldn’t understand why those around her referred to her as a kept woman. She maintained that it was only later that she realised that she was blinded by her material greed, and only discovered belatedly that the man was married.
Anita’s jaw-dropping confession naturally hogged the headlines and she was lambasted for having “no morals” and “airing her dirty laundry as if it were something to be proud of”. Hubby Julian was also blasted for forgiving Anita, with some netizens commenting that he “should have divorced such an immoral person”.
