My experience at Soledad highschool is pretty great. Freshman and sophomore year went by very quick dont remember much due to being in quarantine. Coming back to in person my junior year it was a rough at first because I felt like I lost my voice and felt lonely. Once I was in mid junior year I felt like I was getting back to who I was. I was talking more to other people, going out more, participating in general. Them right now my senior year I had wish I done it sooner but I’m happy where I’m at right now because I’m closer to my friends and my family. I’m having a blast here at Soledad. Not many would agree with me but it all depends how you want to spend you days here. I’m truly going to miss it and my friends of course. I’m dreading the day when we graduate I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Soledad has thought me to get back on track and figure out what I want to do with my life. Right now my main goal is to become a registered nurse at MPC here in Monterey.
My first year here at Soledad High School was my blindest year yet when faced with classes and student opportunities. As a transfer student coming into this schooI was expecting more guidance towards what was available to me as a student attending here. It wasn't until my junior year where I began to be more aware when faced with academics, programs, clubs, and my future in general. I especially started to find out more about my opportunities as a student after I began to be more active in the Migrant Education Program here in this school, this program in specific made it clear on what I should strive for as a student and what to expect of my future. As for academics, this school offers plenty of different courses with many teachers so that makes it great for students who want to look for different classes other than their regularly assigned classes.
I’ve been attending Soledad High for going on two years, and all I can say is the way you utilize your time here will determine what kind of high school education you receive. If you want to be involved in school clubs/sports here, you have to go looking deep. If you want to do well in your classes, it’s on you. Some teachers here are thorough and explain well, but for others it’s very hit or miss. If you attend Soledad High, you will be putting more work than the average student to stay on top of your studies/extracurriculars.
