Barrington High School Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 223 reviews
I’ve lived in Barrington my whole life so I’ve grown accustomed to the ways of the school systems. I personally believe Barrington High School has done a great job of preparing me for college by pushing me to reach out the universities and assisting with any questions I have. The college fair held in the beginning of the year was also of great assistance and allowed me to discover my dream college. Going to Barrington High School itself offers more opportunities to me, since it is held in such high regard for it rigorous courses. Unfortunately just before high school began I lost my mother and was also simultaneously trying to navigate COVID-19 along with everyone else, so I feel the first year and a half was lacking a bit. And while just like every high school it has its flaws I feel truly grateful despite the difficulties, that I was able to receive an education from this institution.
Barrington High School has been a great experience for all three of our children. They were well prepared for college, and enjoyed their four years with wonderful teachers.
Currently, I am a senior at Barrington High School. Like most current high schoolers, several years of my high school experience were stifled by Covid. Nonetheless, the staff, administration, and parents in charge of running Barrington High School made the shift from virtual learning to in-person learning rather seamless. As a blue-ribbon school, the academic pressure is certainly present. However, I feel greatly prepared for college and am grateful for all that I have learned over the past four years. A prominent issue within both the school system and the town is a lack of representation and diversity. The student body is primarily made up of white, upper-middle-class, able-bodied students. Because of this, there is an evident disconnect from the realities of a majority of American students. Also, the school focuses primarily on core departments, like math and science, and fails to emphasize the arts. As an arts student, I would love to see more care and representation in the arts.
