He discovered penicillin, the miracle wonder drug of our century. In this London laboratory, Dr. Fleming worked many years searching for an effective germ-killing antiseptic. His skill and patience finally resulted in his discovery of the mold that produces penicillin. To him came many honors, including the Nobel Prize and knighthood; but his greatest reward came from easing human suffering. His life ended in 1955, but his memory will live as an inspiration to all present and future students of Alexander Fleming Middle School. Principals 1958 – 1963 Mr.
