Miranda Kwok - Biography

Miranda took on an endeavor to write an intensive historical epic, "Song of Silence" and came back with the Grand Prize in the highly competitive Slamdance Screenplay Competition.

With her first spec script, "House: The Transplant," Miranda was accepted into the CBS Diversity Institute Writers Mentoring Program; won placement as an honoree in the WGA Writer Access Project; and most importantly, landed a highly coveted position as a Staff Writer on “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.”

Coined as the boldest new series on television, “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” is produced by Starz Media and Ghost House Pictures with executive producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Josh Donen and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight.

Miranda is represented by the Kaplan Stahler Agency and Intellectual Property Group.

Motorcyclist. Black belt martial artist. Captain of the rugby team. These are just a few of the titles one can ascribe to writer, actor and producer Miranda Kwok. Miranda made her television debut at the age of thirteen and has now acquired over sixty credits in film, television and theatre.

Miranda's journey began at the Claude Watson School for the Arts, Canada's premier school for the performance and visual arts. After completing an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Toronto, Miranda packed her bags and headed to Los Angeles - a move that proved fruitful in launching her career in film and television.

After participating in Project: Involve, a mentorship program at Film Independent, Miranda won a full scholarship award to The Los Angeles Film School's Feature Development Program. She completed the program with honors, and has now produced a number of short films, commercials, industrials and features.

In addition to a diverse education, Miranda had the privilege of working as a counsellor at crisis centers and community shelters where a diversity of people enriched her life in meaningful ways. Through the stories they entrusted in her, she gained invaluable insight and passion to provide support, hope and expression for others.
