Synopsis[]
Mr. Krabs is out for a walk one day when he passes by the Coffee Bowl, a café. He realizes how much customers are willing to pay for breakfast and gets the idea to start selling it at the Krusty Krab. He asks SpongeBob to cook up some breakfast foods, and he comes out with pancakes, which ends up tasting just like Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs then sends SpongeBob to the cookstore to pick up a cookbook he ordered. However, the clerk mistakenly gives him an ancient spellbook. The witch who was supposed to get it then stops by, but ends up with the cookbook instead.
SpongeBob arrives back with the spellbook and is able to find all of the eldritch ingredients in the kitchen, and cooks them in an iron cauldron. A stack of pancakes pops out. Mr. Krabs makes Squidward taste them, but they cause him to grow an extra eye. SpongeBob serves breakfast to the rest of the customers, which all have side-effects and transform them into monsters.
Meanwhile, the witch is mixing potions with SpongeBob's spell book, but only makes breakfast instead. Back in the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob explains that his food is transforming the customers. The witch arrives to get her spellbook back, but it floats out of the kitchen and forms part of a giant breakfast monster. The witch tries to attack it, but it sprays maple syrup at her and sticks her to the wall. She transfers her magic to SpongeBob, telling him that the only way to stop breakfast is with dinner. SpongeBob uses his spatula to serve up a triple-decker Krabby Patty and flings it into the monster's mouth. It explodes, freeing the customers who were trapped inside.
The witch gets free and offers that SpongeBob can be her apprentice. SpongeBob declines and offers the witch a patty, but she comments it is too early for dinner. She makes it a breakfast food by putting it between two waffles. Mr. Krabs likes the new "Krabby waffles" and gets the idea to now serve a combination of breakfast and dinner. He shows the new cookbook, which he picked up himself. It is again possessed, leading to a giant skeleton appearing from the sky and ghosts invading the restaurant.

Trivia[]
General[]
- This episode was originally titled "Necro-Nom-Nom-Nomicon."[7]
- SpongeBob previously used magic in the kitchen while equipped with King Neptune's trident in season 10's "Trident Trouble."
- This episode was intended to air on Nicktoons at 9:15 PM on February 20, 2024 before getting pulled.
- This episode serves as Austin Kimmel's first television credit.[1]
- Like in "Le Big Switch" and "SpongeBob You're Fired," SpongeBob is once again unable to cook any foods that are not Krabby Patties.
- The CGI explosion used when SpongeBob's imaginary Krusty Krab blows up is reused from "Dream Hoppers" and Kamp Koral's "Painting with Squidward."
Episode references[]
- Mr. Krabs is kicked out of a fish's café with one of SpongeBob's squeaky boots from the episode of the same name.
- The sand witch from "Scavenger Pants" returns.
Cultural references[]
- The title of this episode is a spoof on, and makes use of, the Necronomicon, a textbook of magic that first appears in the late H.P. Lovecraft's 1924 short story, The Hound.
- The "nom-nom" portion of the title represents "nom-nom-nom", the onomatopoeia for eating that occurs at the Krusty Krab.
- This episode is also the second to make use of fictional, public-domain characters from early 20th century writers. An earlier example was a deleted scene from "FUN-Believable," which was originally set to feature morlocks, (a fictional species who first appeared in the late H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Time Machine) beating up Mr. Krabs while he and Rube tour the restaurant's secret menu.
Errors[]
- As she spins the book, the evil witch's nose gets cut off when she asks the clerk if the cooking book was hers.
- When SpongeBob salutes to Mr. Krabs, he is missing one of the holes on his side.
- When SpongeBob says, "Squidward is not part of a balanced breakfast!", his lip overlaps his nose for a frame.
- During the Krusty Krab scenes, the Chum Bucket is missing.
