This is the 16th shitty movie I have watched for the Crap Movie Collective: boxd.it/3VCOg
Lake Eerie is a perfect example that less can be more. There was a point when this could have ended and I would have given it a higher rating. Instead, they kept going and they ruined any kind of goodwill they might have had. Ghost stories when done a low budget can still be excellent and the beginning of this flick kind of proved that.
The acting wasn't horrible but there were a few characters that clashed majorly and didn't help the train wreck.
Movies like this remind me of how I should make a fucking movie someday because if anything I myself am proof that some folks will just watch fucking anything.
Add this to the Crap Movie Collective.
There's a lot wrong with this movie so let's start with the obvious. That poster looks like they cut and pasted the woman from the I Spit on Your Grave 2 poster. Look at both posters and tell me I'm wrong.
As for the film, I hate to be too harsh because Lake Eerie suffers from a criminal lack of budget. The overall quality of the film and the effects are poor. The performances are at best wooden and at worst cringe-worthy. The story is slow-paced and feels like your standard haunted house plot. There are a few interesting ideas introduced towards the end but the poor quality of the writing fails to bring them to life. Scenes drag on and transition awkwardly. The film itself doesn't know when to end.

Recommendation: Avoid
I'll keep this short, this is not a good film. Not even the majesty that is Lance Henriksen can save this poor supernatural thriller/horror film. The performances are not good, I didn't feel for any of these characters, the story was riddled with cliches, and...NO ONE IS GOING TO SEE THIS MOVIE ANYWAY.
I don't know if this film this worse than "Battle For SkyArk", but it's got to be close. I mean, at least I laughed at one thing in SkyArk, this was just horribly made. So don't watch it, okay thanks.
.5/5

What started off as a decent ghost horror movie becomes a poor man's Event Horizon on earth and to be honest, this movie is at least convincing me to rewatch Event Horizon. Anyways, the acting is awful even from actors like Lance Hendrickson (who gets the Eric Roberts treatment of only appearing for a small amount of time before he saw the paycheck and left the set.) who have shown they can be way better although I can't blame them when being given this script. I will give it credit in terms of effects and camerawork though, they are at least competent if not generic.

This is like a movie your neighbor made in their own house starring all your other neighbors if your neighbors were porn stars.
The sound is uneven, flat and accidentally muffled. You realize you’ve heard the background music before either because you’re a boomer or a late night horror flick lover. The lighting is verite except when some important object, a Costco muffin, a white coffee cup, or an old scary painting is spot lighted.
There is some fancy ghost cam pov which consists of shaky, whirling hand held shots at about the height of a medium sized dog. Somebody saw Evil Dead!
The acting, script and dialogue make you appreciate what professionals actually bring to the craft.

The God of Horror (John Carpenter) once said that “Horror is a reaction; it's not a genre.” It is this philosophy that makes horror a magnet for first time filmmakers with small budgets looking to prove themselves. You do not need a million dollars to make a great horror movie. You don’t need great actors, or even great visual effects. All you need is skill, and the ability to understand your audience. The best of these films predict the viewers fears and anxieties and capitalize on them through clever visual storytelling. It takes more than a creepy concept to terrify. The idea of a classic paranormal gothic tale centered around a single woman in small town America is one that…

"Well....Uhhhh....it's got Lance Henriksen,Betsy Baker, and a Harry Manfredini musical score. Since it's playing legit(and legally) on TubiTV,I'll give it a shot." -- Myself
The filmmaking duo of The Majors(director/co-star Chris Majors and lead star/scriptwriter Meredith Majors) attempt to topple(and outdo) the likes of Rob Zombie,Mike Flanagan, and Adam Wingard with this heavily talky and mightily stale ghost thriller that has Meredith as a disturbed young widow who moves into a large manor that is located at the title area, much…
