Absolutely staggeringly brilliant film, with one of the darkest conclusions in the whole noir Canon. Essential viewing. :)
Excellent film...the followup "Scarlet Street" 1945 is also brilliant!!!
I like Scarlet Street the best but they are both top tier noirs!
Agreed ππΎππΎππΎππΎ
They had to pull their punches with Woman in the Window. Scarlet Street felt like Fritz Land had full control. Although, I like both.
Dan Duryea snarls across the screen!
Lol as per usual.....
Joan Bennett was a pretty, pleasant, competent leading lady in the Thirties, occasionally showing something more in films like Little Women and Private Worlds. It was her sister Constance who was the bigger star at that time. When Bennett wore a Hedy Lamarr type wig in Trade Winds in the late Thirties, people took notice., as it was transformational. She adopted this as her new look, and under director Frtiz Lang, showed surprising acting chops aligned with her new, sultry demeanor, starting with Man Hunt, and continuing with Woman in the Window, Scarlet Street, and Secret Beyond the Door. She then dramatically switched to the mother role in Father of the Bride as 1950 rolled in.
Excellent noir. Love me some Joan Bennet.
Great film...
Joan Bennett is such an underrated actor. She was wonderful in everything she did.
