Carla Hay Culture Mix It's a bizarre bank robbery caper that fumbles the comedy and the action. The story is witless, the performances are irritating, and the film editing is terrible. The movie's mediocre Donald Trump impersonator quickly becomes a tired gimmick. Apr 30, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Aziz Never saw a movie as bad as this and never will Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Shawn Awesome fun to watch movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Osama Bin M The best Pakistani movie with a really good message. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Sarah S It is a great movie with a good sense of humour plus a great moral of story. No one in any country would understand its jokes or the criticism unless you live in Pakistan as it reflects our Pakistani problems and our political culture which has ruined our country. It's exactly like we Pakistani won't understand American jokes till we live in America and have understood the background of those jokes . Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review A V If ever there was a movie aimed at a niche audience, it is Money Back Guarantee. It isn't a movie for the subcontinent, it isn't a movie an Indian, who may share or understand our language, enjoy as much. Because this is an intrinsically Pakistani film, aimed at a Pakistani audience and so true to the core about the Pakistani society and its nuances that it may hit a few people the wrong way, especially those that see, and are a part of the rampant racism in our society, and say to anyone who calls it out, ‘but it is true though, right?' Money Back Guarantee is a socio-political satire in a league of its own in the Pakistani cinema, the satire is hard hitting, accurate and so close to the heart of things that it can be jarring for those who came in expecting Fawad Khan romancing Ayesha Omar. For me though, I experienced the movie in a suburban Sydney cinema in a party of six, I was expecting Faisal Qureshi of the VJ fame and I got it. But it wasn't the immature Ashraf-Amazing-Story type VJ comedy that he offered (granted that we loved VJ at the time because we were just as immature then). Money Back Guarantee is a satire of the purest kind, where word play opens more meaning to a dialogue than what lays bare on the surface. (For those with literature background, I want so badly to compare it to Pope's Rape of the Lock, it hurts!) I found MGB extremely enjoyable. And by the reactions of the few Pakistanis in the cinema who had come to the late-night viewing of the movie on its last day here, the crowd – and not just me – found it hilarious. It was an audience of expats, laughing at the sharp dialogues that expose the fault lines within our social fabric; you could watch the movie, laugh throughout, and still leave with the message at the core, depending on your inclinations. I left with the feeling of wanting to watch it again, watch it with more people, and of wanting to spread the word because anyone from the niche audience I've pointed out would enjoy it immensely. For those who haven't lived in Pakistan though, or those who have closed themselves off to experiments, or to purity of wit, or cinemagoers who'd rather watch the boy-meets-girl formula, the cinema experience of MBG may still be OK in good company, because of how engaged the audience can be, but the movie is really not aimed at you. Still, it doesn't hurt to tap your foot to ‘Kami na ho' and go ‘of course it says Kami Na Ho, what else?' when your kid looks at you in horror. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review Usman L Moneyback guarantee is a must-see movie for anyone who loves comedy. With its expert direction, top-notch cast, and hilarious script, this movie is sure to leave you in stitches from start to finish. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and get ready to laugh your socks off. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
