Having travelled to Australia and New Zealand earlier in the year with Qantas Airlines I decided to take the family for a few weeks to Perth and then drive down to Margaret River, we decided on Singapore Airlines and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, my previous trip with Qantas we went premium class, this time went economy, leg room was plenty, the service was truly brilliant , the food was coming in abundance to a point that we had to miss a few meals as we were still full from the last meal, nothing was to much trouble for the staff who were attentive and smiling at all times, Singapore Airlines are now my favourite airline.

Honestly I was so disappointed. I fly quite often for leisure and had heard great things. 3/4 flights were delayed, 4th flight left before the connection and we were diverted via a different continent and delayed by more than 12 hours. We were told that we didn’t qualify for compensation even though their website sets out the EU Regulations for compensation because the airline themselves are based outside the EU. Planes were old and the entertainment was very limited. Food was poor and the promised WiFi would never connect as it was not linked to my seat. Asked for help and was told to follow the guides online. Helpful! Minor complaints based on the recent flight with severe injuries. Pretty lax safety checks on our flight mean I’m not surprised unfortunately. Food was still being collected and toilets used when the seatbelt signs were on and the staff were sat in the galley at the back ignoring the economy passengers. Emirates are more expensive but worth every penny. Save yourself the discomfort and go with any other airline.

Premium Economy with this airline is a total rip off. No dedicated boarding food was the same as economy, cabin layout appalling, had to use the toilets down the back of the plane, not sure what you are paying for?

I booked a flight in the A380 suites flying from Singapore to London (SQ308), departing at 09:00 (Singapore time) with a flight duration of approximately 14hrs 20mins. Having flown economy once and business several times, I was so excited to fly on board Singapore Airlines Suites for the first time! My experience begins with my taxi driver pulling up to terminal 3’s dedicated entrance for first class passengers to check in. You can take a look at the full experience on YouTube at love flying and hotels! Check in took only 2 minutes! I was then invited to the Private Room which is only accessible to passengers travelling in first class or suites on board Singapore Airlines. FYI – for passengers travelling in first class on other Star Alliance carriers will not be granted access and will need to use the First Class lounge – the same applies to those holding top tier status on Star Alliance or Krisflyer. Even if you are travelling on Singapore Airlines in Business Class and are a top tier member, you will not be permitted access to the Private Room, nor can you take a guest (unless they are travelling in First Class on board Singapore Airlines. The lounge is delightfully quiet which is great for relaxing or getting some work done. The staff are amazing! I met Selina, a Vietnamese staff member, who was so charming, friendly and positive! The lounge offers an a-la-carte menu and not a buffet, with a good selection of wines, champagne, spirits, teas, coffee, soft drinks and juices. There are a range of seating options from sofas to chairs with most seating offering charging options, some even have wireless charging! There are also day rooms and showers! When boarding, I was escorted to my seat – 2A! Unfortunately, on this flight, both 1A and 2F were already taken so no one could utilise the double bed! You have to see the space when the double bed is made – it is like a luxurious hotel room 35,000 feet up in the sky! The main crew members taking care of me were Sean and Linda. You will get to see them in the video! Linda was more amazing then I imagined – she really was! She was also very sweet and quite cute! Linda and I give a seat tour and then come the goodies! I started off with a glass of Krug champagne of course, I was given pyjamas and an amenity kit. The Suite design is stunning! The food is flexi-dining aka dine on demand. 2 meals will be served on this flight as well as access to snacks. The snacks include the usual thins like nuts and crisps as well as more filling options like mushroom soup, wraps and so on! The food was excellent as was the 12-15 glasses of champagne I drunk! The whole experience was a wow factor and the flight went by so quick! I could have easily stayed on board for another 14hrs! Linda was truly a star and she probably gets so many compliments but you’ll see what I mean when you watch the video. Would I fly this again – absolutely! Would I recommend this – absolutely! On my next flight I will probably try the first class product on the 777, this is not the suites, for comparison. However, I am also conscious that the A380s will be phased out and so too may be these gorgeous suites! Whether Singapore Airlines replaces them with a newer and better product will remain to be seen. But as they are one of the best airlines in the world, always striving to improve, I wouldn’t put it past them! Enjoy
