Sylvania Northview High School Reviews
Rating 3.88 out of 5 312 reviews
The best part of my education and Sylvania Northview High School were the science and math classes. The funding for science equipment, including several dissections, was adequate. The STEM teachers especially are well versed and know what they are talking about. One thing I would like to see change is better teachers in the foreign language department.
Great school with a lot of academic, career-oriented, and college opportunities. However, the student motivation and work ethic could use some work.
Overall, I would say my experience at Northview gave me a taste of what college and the real world would be like. This is mostly due to specific teachers, who were amazing. This could be part of just Sylvania, not Northview, but it felt like its own community bubble. I feel that even 20 minutes down the road at Toledo, it feels like an entirely different environment. The worst part of my experience was the sports; coaches destroyed my confidence, made false promises, and attacked students' character daily. It is my one regret, playing my senior year. I think clubs and organizations were overall pretty good; I could give as much or as little as I wanted out of each organization. Certain leadership positions I had prepared me well for college and the things I'm starting to do. I hope the high school sports environment can change; it is a crime to destroy our youth over something so insignificant in the long run (not everyone is an Olympic athlete).
