I hate to say it but i would be shocked if Disney doesn’t renew. Disney just hoards this shit and even if they don’t use it they’ll put in effort to keep it. it’s really annoying and it’s sucks but if Disney wasn’t willing to sell it all back to the original owners then i doubt they would just let the domain expire

Eat the rich? No. Eat Disney. Those dirty mf's hoarding our childhood prized possession, and for what? NOTHING. They get NOTHING out of this.

id say eat both.

u/Helukfar avatar

And that’s why I hate Disney. Greedy mf’s.

Eating the rich inherently means eating Disney, and I don’t mean eating AT Disney with those churros and what-fuck-not, I’m talking Walt Stir-fry.

i realized this after i watched that nexpo video abt paranoia.com, disney truly just buys every domain even remotely associated w every project they begin to create and then keep it forever, their list of domains is crazy

I mean it makes sense from a business perspective. Just buying/renewing a domain costs under $20 a year. That’s like .000000000001% of their budget.

Obviously it sucks, but it’s essentially easier for them to hoard domains than to be “generous.” They don’t just do it just to be a dick, they also do it because if they didn’t, some predator or nefarious organization could take the domain and use it to exploit children for sexual or financial gain. (Hey, remember how that happened with Club Penguin Online?? Yeah, that would have been much worse if those people ended up with the actual “clubpenguin.com” domain…)

Of course Disney knows fans want to restore the website without any ill intentions, but there’s no way of ensuring that will happen unless Disney does it themselves honestly. They have no reason to trust the internet. (I say this having played basically all the remakes, so don’t get me wrong. Lol)

It would just renew automatically they wouldn't let a premium domain like that to just get out on the market.

"It's MY IP to sit on and do nothing with!"

Back in 2020 there was one day where they randomly brought back the websites for both Club Penguin and Club Penguin Island (they used to just auto-redirect to the Disney website before), except it's just a blank page with a single line of code in Inspect Element, that was weird bc it came out of nowhere and nothing else happened

u/drpepperrootbeercoke avatar

Exactly. Disney clearly doesn’t have a plan, but they are the kings of holding assets, and they won’t let one go if it’s not bankrupting them

u/Rstuds7 avatar

they don’t have a plan but maybe… just maybe they may use it years later for something, who knows. but they want to hold onto it just in case they do want to do something. but as far as right now it does not seem there are any plans in place

u/drpepperrootbeercoke avatar

True. No plan for anything in the near future for sure. Praying for something one day

Unlikely they do anything with it. If it's not on autorenew, someone might swipe it up, but knowing Disney, it's totally possible they'll file a UDRP or domain seizure request if someone re-registers it and infringes on their intellectual property. Who knows though.

It's rare, but it does happen - https://www.icann.org/about/staff/security/guidance-domain-seizures-07mar12-en.pdf

It'll auto-renew.

Disney still owns Club Penguin and will renew it.

u/TheOneCalledThe avatar

Disney owns the rights to club penguin so they’ll def keep the domain

u/cortomare avatar

who gon snipe

what’s funny is that they lost the domain before for a day when cp was still active

u/GumSL avatar

Disney has it on auto-renew at this point.

RemindMe! 1 year 29 days

NOOOOOOOOO!! (cause they really there's no chance that they renew it)

Ain't no way it expires on my birthday

They always renew the domain around this time every year. They always extend it for one year. Means nothing.

My only hope is that they add some type of equivalent to CP3D to the EPICxDisney universe unfortunately it’ll probably end up closer to CPisland but a guy can dream 😅
