Hatfield Township >> One of Hatfield’s finest officers can now proudly wear another stripe.

On Wednesday night, the township commissioners unanimously voted to promote Officer Pat Hanrahan to the rank of corporal.

“We are all so proud of Pat Hanrahan. He’s dedicated his life to the township, he’s served for so many years and done so well in his service to us, that we couldn’t be any happier for him and his family,” said commissioners President Tom Zipfel.

During his time with the department Hanrahan has worked as the department’s public information officer, a D.A.R.E education officer, and served on the North Penn Tactical Response Team, with time as leader of that team’s negotiating unit.

Hanrahan was chosen for promotion partially due to his time in “so many different positions, and he’s had so many different responsibilities with the police force – he’s one of those guys who knows the police force inside and out,” Zipfel said.

“He lives and breathes being a police officer in Hatfield, and our township is safer every night he’s out on the streets,” he said.
