SRH vs MI: AS IT HAPPENED

Hardik Pandya won the toss for Mumbai Indians and opted to bowl first in Hyderabad. Head and Mayank Agarwal got SRH off to a flying start with the Australian destroying MI's debutant teenage pacer Kwena Maphaka for 22 runs in the third over. Agarwal departed after scoring a 13-ball 11 but the carnage did not stop as Head joined forces with Abhishek Sharma to inflict pain on the Mumbai bowlers.

The two combined to smash South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee for 23 runs and veteran spinner Piyush Chawla for 21 runs, while forming a 68-run stand off just 22 balls. Head scored the fastest fifty for SRH, getting to the landmark off just 18 deliveries.

He was eventually undone by Coetzee after top-edging a delivery to Naman Dhir at backward point in the eighth over. But the damage had been done by then as he departed after scoring 62 runs off 24 balls, while smashing nine boundaries and three sixes.

Despite Head’s dismissal, the hitting did not stop for Abhishek, who kept going after the MI bowlers. The 23-year-old shattered Head’s record for the fastest fifty for SRH as he got to the 50-run mark off just 16 deliveries. He scored 63 runs off 23 balls, hitting three boundaries and seven sixes before being dismissed by Piyush Chawla. The South African duo of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen kept the scoring-rate high and hit boundaries regularly.
